This Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is extremely dark with a deep, rich nose. Aromas of blueberry, black cherry and currant come forcefully, with delightful black pepper, vanilla and smoke on top. The palate has a distinctly savory side - sage, rosemary, white pepper - and the fruit is all dark and smoky. Tannins hit a sweet spot and will prove useful without getting in the way. The sip is smooth and delicious, as the best Zinfandels usually are. — 7 years ago
Pure wild raspberry and briar. Mineral, med+ acid. This must be a very high production wine (I bought it at a supermarket!) and it really exceeded my expectations... bravo Louis Jadot! — 7 years ago
Blackrock Vineyard, Yakima Valley. 47% Grenache, 27% Counoise, 26% Cinsault. Extremely pale pink in color. Strawberry, strawberry jam, raspberry and briar notes in nose. Same berries and berry jam in mouth, cherry water and later cherry fruit learher finish. Rounded mouthfeel, slight astringency on front of tongue. A lovely aperitif but perhaps not enough acidity for some foods. — 8 years ago
Some absurd ratings out there for this nice but decidedly middle of the road Burg. Light for the vintage. A dark translucent salmon (I've seen some darker roses). Nose of cranberry and orange peel with a little briar and a light touch of spice but not really perfumed. Lithe finish with ample acidity and fine tannins. If pressed I would guess village level Vosne. — 8 years ago
Dense inky purple. Briar, black currant and blackberry notes in nose. Blackberry and mint flavors with a touch of bay leaf. Blackberry, cherry and mint with length in aftertaste. Fine grained tannins, moderate skin astringency initially but soften quickly. Lovely flavor profile, slightly tart but softens — 6 years ago
Good but a little acidic — 7 years ago
Library wine purchased at the tasting room. Third of three bottles tasted. Plum brown in color. Prune mint blueberry cherry fruit leather and briar notes in nose. Berry, tea, mint, orange, plum and soy flavors in mouth, cherry finish with minor seed tannins. Challenging to judge a Pinot Noir aged this long, and not enough experience at it as a wine drinker, but it proved a surprisingly decent pour and most enjoyable. Much more enjoyable than the previous bottle tasted three months earlier, bottle variation perhaps? — 7 years ago
Bowen Home - floral nose, fresh berries and slightly herbal finish. — 8 years ago
Oh yeah. This is my jam. Just gorgeous wine. Viogner really lift the aromatics into another level. Spice, pepper, cherry briar patch, subtle perfume, a meadow of wildflowers. As it opens a creamy silky core of ripe red fruit and lush tannins seduce the mouth like a femme fatale. The prickly acids give it a balanced backbone. Delicious long finish with acid burst. Almost sweet, not sappy. Like a great dark comedy. — 9 years ago
Bought at winery tasting room. Purple, dense, moderately extracted. Blackberry, briar notes in nose with hints of wet concrete floor, funk, veg and spearmint. Blueberry and blackberry flavors with slightly tart blueberry aftertaste. Mild seed tannins and moderate skin astringency in finish. Nice complexity of fruit with no hints of wood or barrel until an hour after opening. A tad much oak for me; I preferred the wine from the first hour. — 6 years ago
Bought at winery, labelled “Unsulfured”. Medium extracted purple red, very good clarity. Briar notes in nose. Tart, raspberry and blueberry flavors, some skin astringency in finish. Needs time to open. Later, cola and mint flavors emerge, with an anise aftertaste. Chewy seed tannins emerge after an hour — 6 years ago
Briar notes mingle with barrel toast on the nose. Sweet blackberries and rich cherries on the palette. Tannins are mature, but still show some ripeness. Nice acidity, while the finish is sweet. Impressive. — 7 years ago
Fruity, sweet blackberry flavor. Adult juice box. — 7 years ago
Bought at winery. Dense purple red, slight sediment in suspension. Herb, briar, mint, blackberry and a hint of raspberry in nose. Briar and mixed berries in mouth (black, blue and raspberry), slightly tart with a touch of seed bitterness and barrel toast on finish. Paired with local pizzeria's wild mushroom slice and their kale lemon ricotta slice. — 8 years ago
A little funk on the nose at first followed with raspberry briar, limestone, earth, a juicy cleanse with a lightly structured finish. Lingers of cherry and granite — 8 years ago
Dense purple red in color. Leather, briar and vegetal notes in nose. Blueberry water, fruit leather and cola notes in mouth and raspberry and cranberry with length in finish. Some bitterness with mouth-coating astringency on front half of tongue. Needs time to open, still has aging potential — 8 years ago

A new height for Lato, beguiling nose of briar and sour cherry full of stems. Layered and interesting, black tea, strawberry jam. Less acidity than expected but enough for food. Long finish, awesome with Nobu’s best stuff from sashimi to Wagyu. — 6 years ago
