Pontet Canet tasting and dinner with Alfred Tesseron.
The 13 was a brutal tannin vintage when I tasted it at En Premier. The tannins are still bitty but, nothing like they were out of barrel.
The fruit in the 13 shows the difficulty in the vintage. They are duller and it’s really stands out from other vintages and not in a good way.
It’s lean and there is nothing that really draws you in. Fruits are; dark cherries, rhubarb, blackberries, some blueberries@and the strawberries show some ripeness the other do not. Lots of dry earth, dry stones, some herbs, dark withering florals, decent acidity and a uneventful dry finish.

A strong showing, but the oak monster made an appearance. Good depth, with layers of flavor. Honeydew melons dance with almonds. Striking balance with good acidity. Finishes bright, yet round. — 8 years ago
This was massive but subdued now (old age?)
Concentrated flavors of dark fruits and berries. Smooth, bold and big albeit a bit monotonous. Very low acidity makes it not too interesting. It is a good drinking wine to have with people who like big fruity massive wines . In my cellar for a long time, had to be drunk 😄 — 8 years ago
Crisp, clean, yet pleasantly tanniny. More of a pink color than orange. Good wine, nothing crazy, but good. — 9 years ago
Last quarter of the season — 9 years ago
Mourvèdre Madness Monday. Common threads: tart blackberry, characteristic rustic meatiness/ferrous quality and reduction.
Mataro from Zin master Joel Peterson. Richest, most forward and fullest bodied of the bunch by far. Extracted but balanced. Tannins are plush and wooly. Fresh violets, smoke and licorice. — 4 years ago

Dark ruby coloration. On the nose, dark berries, anise, leather, tobacco and warm spices. On the palate, big fruit right away, dark berry and cherry, with hints of vanilla, oak, raspberry, tobacco and leather. Medium body and nice smooth mouth feel. Long finish with the fruit prevailing. — 5 years ago
At Total Wine tasting 1/19 - sweet, but with a little acid just at the end. Very drinkable, pulls at my tongue, top wine of the tasting — 7 years ago
Harmonious balance of acid, fruit, alcohol, and tannins. I'm so impressed with the brightness yet lingering finish. Might be one of the top wines I've ever had? I don't want this moment to end. — 8 years ago
Tart with hints of green apple and grapefruit. Non-grassy sav blanc. — 8 years ago

Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Very dark Ruby with pronounced aromas of dark fruits, cigar box & earthy notes, touch of floral citrus. Flavors of black cherry & blackberry with tobacco & spice. Fine tight tannins, long finish ending with cacao, tobacco & mineral spice as the finish builds. Decant now! Will continue to age! — 4 years ago
A real winner. Tried 3 bottles, all were consistently great! Located in the western end of Dopp Road where the Chehalem Mountains converge with Ribbon Ridge, medium Ruby with aromas of red fruits and enticing spice. On the palate ripe raspberry and wild cherry with pepper, baking spice and earthy notes. Young with integrated tannins, well defined, elegant with underlying richness, long finish ending with flinty notes. Nice value! Tried several bottles, now starting to develop more complex spice. — 5 years ago
John bought - smooth - cherry and hint of vanilla flavors come through. I taste no oaky flavor- John really likes this. — 6 years ago
Very bright - notes of pineapple & guava — 7 years ago
15' Gargiulo Pinot Grigio Money Road Ranch . Taste . Way too cold out of the wine refrigerator. Pineapples, yellow apple skins, keylime pie crust , flinty. Nice... lightly integrated acidity. Great with lobster tacos. Edit- Opened for 45 minutes. It's warmed up & has a drop of creaminess on the finish. — 8 years ago
No petrol on the nose. White & yellow florals, soft, subtle, fresh, citrus of; lemon, lime, grapefruit, pineapple, light stone fruits and light, soft minerality. On the palate, such freshness of fruit; pineapple, lemon, lime, grapefruit, stone fruits, melons, gentle and soft minerality. The medium body & finish is pure, elegant, round, lush, exotic & sexy. Not to mention perfect acidity. Photos of another perspective of the properties sensational vistas, Sofia walking the grounds and the Cellar Door. — 8 years ago
