Extracted Pinot. Ink & fruit. Great upon opening but turned Belle Glossian after being open awhile. Maybe a little more refined than BG — 6 years ago
With no wax along the neck I know what kind of BG will be imbibed...At least I thought I knew, but a light, wafted air flutter rolls over your tongue, like a strawberry hued wave about to crest.
The nose had a little funk at first. Steely underripe strawberry dominates the nose thereafter. The palate expands on muted strawberries with cran and rasp vying for their chance to share the limelight. Hints of lime peel and tart, green apple. Spice from the French oak fermentation and inherent, earthy Pinot Noir varietal characteristics tie together a fiery connotation. Interesting and enjoyable. — 9 years ago
Magnum 1996 Harlan. Third set of reds we tried at house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. This wine we tried alongside the '96 Screaming Eagle. So cool to compare these two wines. This wine tasted much younger- greener, stronger tannins. Gorgeous wine and fun to drink out of magnum — 10 years ago
Plum and black currant, chocolate, and crushed gravel. Very smooth, balanced tannins. Weekly deal at BG. $11. — 5 years ago
First time trying this. We are closet fans of BG, but this falls short. Nice nose of cherry jam, gives way to a barnyard note on the palate. The texture is moderate, as is the sweetness. But overall, this is one-dimensional, which lacks complexity. We’ll let it breathe to see if it comes out to play... — 5 years ago

2001 Dominus Estate CS. Drank this w the ladies after the house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. Green and spicy on the nose. We really enjoyed it! — 10 years ago
1997 Joseph Phelps Insignia. Second set of reds we tried at house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. This wine we tried alongside the '01 Dalla Valle Maya. This wine is gorgeous, but much bigger and muscular than the Maya. We always love this wine. — 10 years ago
Bustling strawberries on the nose; fig and vanilla, with hints of clove/baking spices. A touch of earthiness. Smooth tannin. $17 from BG. — 5 years ago
Deep mahogany, smells of figs/plums. Tastes like cherries. Very sweet — 6 years ago
Showing great. I love Pezerolles from BG. Sappy cherries, very mineral, very airy, very perfumed. Just a gorgeous nose. Palate is voluminous, sweet, mineral and has wonderful freshness and velvety tannins. Sneaky persistent fruit on the finish. Wonderful. No rush. — 8 years ago
A bit like old Savennières. Hazelnut and quince. A fino sherry note also. — 8 years ago
Xlnt pinot, great spicy edge, bursting with fruit but restrained tannins, a real mouthful, from BG, should drink well for another 5-8 years — 9 years ago
1996 Screaming Eagle. Third set of reds we tried at house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. This wine we tried alongside the '96 Harlan out of magnum. The larger format on Harlan probably amplified its youthful flavor. We hands down loved the Screaming Eagle- supple, nuanced, like velvet in the mouth. Epic! — 10 years ago

Cooked blackberries/cherries, dark cocoa, black pepper, smoked meats/tobacco, touch of herbs (maybe bay leaf?); high and present, but balanced, tannins, medium acidity, drinks quite smooth; Worthy of a few years of aging. Rec from Mark at BG. $30 — 5 years ago
