The palate is rich, round & soft with concentrated berry fruit & hints of anise. These flavours are enhanced by velvety tannins & spicy length of flavour on the finish.
Pepperjack Barossa Shiraz is a blend of Shiraz parcels sourced from premium vineyards throughout the Barossa. Parcels selected for Pepperjack Barossa Shiraz have bright, rich fruit concentration with a range of flavours from red berries to rich plums and a hint of savoury notes.
The fruit is fermented for up to ten days depending on the parcel of fruit, then aged for 12 months in a mix of American and French Oak. Individual parcels of fruit are matured separately to maximise the blends complexity through a staged selection process. The resultant wine is soft and plush with lots of flavour, balance and a fine tannin structure — 6 years ago
Smells kind of like... Wax, I suppose and mild oak.
Tastes big. Dark berries, nice round tanins with a mild finish. — 8 years ago
This highly rated (for this vintage), very affordable reserve Shiraz has lasted nicely. Found it tucked away in the storage unit after its two dozen cousins disappeared probably 5 to 8 years ago. It was very strong still, with lots of fruit surrounded by hints of black pepper. Pleasantly surprised. — 9 years ago
I love Dan Standish. He is one of the best winemakers. Lovely wine, very young. Blueberry and Red silky fruit. Full Bodied but not overly alcoholic, heat isn't obvious in this wine. Great length and layers of flavours. Big points from me 95 points. A producer I highly recommend! Typical sweet Barossa fruit, very seductive... — 10 years ago

Amazing wine......drinking with Rob K who just got promoted (again) to Full Prof (yes the spelling of Full is correct).....at this rate he will be Dean of the Faculty by August. Wine is a wild mixture of petroleum, chocolate, toffee, blueberrys.......everlasting finish......for a 2002 this thing is hitting its prime right now — 8 years ago

Quite intense, notes of amaretto, spices, raspberries, cherries — 5 years ago
Really good Shiraz that is starting to age well. Plenty of heavy blackcurrant, diesel and menthol with a finish that is long and complex. This will get smoother over time but it drinks well now. Only complaint is that there was a lot of sediment, meaning the last eighth of the bottle was lost (unfortunately no decanter available). Great Penfolds example without the huge Grange pricing. — 6 years ago
NV Sparkling Shiraz. Basket press. Dark purple hue. Wow - amazing nose. Black plums, sweet spice, mulberries, leather, and hints of earthy manure. Fabulous. On the palate, off dry, high acidity, deep concentration of flavours, medium plus body and medium alcohol. Great depth on the long lingering finish. A revelation. Clearly the best sparkling Aussie wine I have tried, never mind sparkling red wine. Awesome. 94 points. — 8 years ago

Dark purple. On the nose there is ripe plums, blueberry, pepper and wiff of oak. On the palate it's full of sweet dark fruits, some vanilla, pepper and mix of granberry and lingonberry that comws up towards the end. Tannins are fine if a bit drying and wine has nice structure and acidity that keeps it fresh. This could be from southern france. Great qpr — 4 years ago
