2017 was hot. Ripe to tart red/dark cherries, blackberries , blackcurrant. The fruity notes were quite tight. Hints of black Liqorice and a lot of the earth, herbs and tannin shown through. This is still a beautiful wine., but I preferred the 2018.
Ready to drink 2024/2025 and store up to 15 years — a year ago
Maraschino cherries on the nose. Saddle leather and olives on the palate. This will sail on for many years.
@M. Christopher Roebuck influenced my score as I think he nailed it. HNY bud! — a year ago
Dark tawny with reddish rims. Almost opaque. Nice nose. Notes of black cherries, some black licorice, blueberries pepper, and some dark dry earth. Has a heavy presence in the mouth with structure dominating the modest sweet fruit in the background. I would say drink these up as the fruit is dry and fading, leaving a dry and wispy finish. — 5 years ago
Opened on Nov 17, 2023. Was a little rough at first then opened up beautifully. Wow, glad I held onto this bottle so long! — 6 months ago
What an excellent wine; got hit with cherries, flowers and much more on the nose. The taste was loaded as well and the finish was long sweet with some more flowers. Happy I have another bottle. Every time I have a Brunello I wonder why I don’t drink more of the ones I have. — 6 months ago
Limited Notes. Difficult to write when out to dinner at a good restaurant. Need to rely on memory. Dusty red cherries in the aromatics along with loamy notes…freshly tilled soil. Similar notes on the medium bodied palate. At the beginning of a long life into the late 2030s I would expect. Also as expected, a brilliant food wine. — 9 months ago
Get out the thesaurus because I do not have enough adjectives to describe this wine. A similar wine to Rayas in that both wines share characteristics, which if you are being blinded, leads you to Burgundy. Has that wonderful iron fist in a velvet glove texture. Wonderful florals, and red fruit, soar out the glass like a SpaceX launch. In the mouth, the telltale structure that all great wines have. On the palate, waves of complex fruit, earth and perfectly judged acid and tannins caress your taste buds. A long layered finish that will have you shaking your head. A big thank you to the sommeliers . — a year ago
Fresh, elegant, and pure. Just what the doctor ordered to energise the mid-week slump! Unfurls in the glass with aromas of cherry liqueur, mint, dusty florals, and a tincture of meatiness. The palate’s silky and airy, with juicy acidity and fine sandy tannins felt on the gums (more specifically at the base of the teeth). Subtle finish that’s actually quite long, as it lingers with notes of cherry and earthy accents. With air, the mid-to-back palate gained some mineral notes which I wanted more of, but alas the bottle was finished! Such is the danger of a great wine - an empty bottle comes far too soon, without you even realising it. — 2 years ago
Nice - not spectacular. Shy nose of candied cherries and earth. A little tight on opening - fully expressive in about 3 hours. Palate of raspberries, candied cherries, mossy undergrowth and minerals, rounded out by a kick of clove spiciness. Tannins were grippy but not overwhelming. — 6 months ago
This vintage of Pieve Santa Restituta is delicious. To be more specific: the best word to describe it is the English "smooth". The Polish "smooth" does not reflect the nuances. 🙂 Tannins pleasantly tighten the tongue. The acidity is perfect for me. Fleeting fruitiness on the nose, but none on the palate. Back to the nose: spices and herbs, especially thyme, some tobacco. I love the dryness of this wine. — 6 months ago
Having this on Island Princess and the restaurant director offered a taste of this wine. I suspect this has been open for awhile because it was delicious! I’m surprised by the low pro rating. I will look this up on their wine list and add the price. — 9 months ago
Fantastic! Smooth, Silky from the entry to finish. Great year, great bottle. Wish I bought more. — a year ago
Bright and vibrant. Cherries, plums, and red berries. Delicious now, but I am sure it will improve with some aging. — 3 years ago

Mid Ruby/garnet in colour. Earthy aromas - freshly tilled earth, red cherry, plum skins, menthol, leather and liquorice. The medium weight palate shows savoury cherry, spice and liquorice with fine persistent tannins. Drinking at its peak but will stay at this level for another 5 plus years. A brilliant match with pappardelle pasta, lamb, fresh basil and Parmesan (thanks Georgie). This wine was a treat, from an excellent year for Brunello - wish I had a few more bottles. — 6 months ago
