Blackberry and plum aroma. In the mouth it’s heavier, spicier, and hotter. It brings in wood, black pepper, and pretty strong acidity. It might settle down with some air. But first impressions is that it’s big and interesting, and a good value. — 6 years ago
Big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in aroma and flavor. Texture is soft and supple. Sweet vanilla character. Black cherry and blackberry in flavors and aromas. Subtle and complex; black currant and licorice aromas. Full body; ultra-fine tannins; fresh finish. Clean and refined. Delicious. — 6 years ago
Crisp delicious easy drinker. Citrus notes with floral aroma. Crisp and light with just a small touch of tropical notes. — 7 years ago
Really looking forward to seeing how this CDP opens up. On the nose plenty of funk, yes, but as it blows off there are hints of black soil, mushrooms, dust, red fruit, and a slight floral aroma with potpourri and cedar that is beginning to rear its head. On the palate it's quite tight, but as time passes away so will the astringency. Rating will definitely increase as time goes on. EDIT- Day 2 and this wine is on point! Upgraded from 8.7 to 9.0. — 8 years ago
An overall translucent red with a broad crimson core extending to a thick ruby border with a thin orange brick rim. Medium plus intensity of aroma in the nose floral dominant and mineral driven (chalk). Rose petal, dried green herbs, tomato leaf. Subtle fruit aromas are ripe, red cherry candy, raspberry jam. Tactile sensations initially dominate the palate, high levels of acid and chalky astringency linger with medium plus alcohol 13.5%ABV but ultimate reveals a seductive mouth filling, medium finish featuring fresh red fruit perfume, ripe red cherry, basil, black pepper, and a touch of savory bacon, black olive, and wood smoke — 8 years ago
Dark cherry aroma. — 9 years ago
Wonderful aroma....floral, dark plum, dark cherry, allspice, clove, and a dash of pepper. Very nice with Thanksgiving dinner. First time I have had a Vega Sicilia wine and definitely lives up to the reputation!!!! — 5 years ago
Delicate balance but still a heady aroma; primarily developed dried fruit (mostly cherry) mixed in with oak, cedar, vanilla, and tobacco but not dominating the fruit. Very nice — 5 years ago
Opened this and it filled the whole pool deck with aroma, vanilla, earth, grapes. Very smooth taste and not too grapey. A nice drink to savor or pair with steak or pasta. — 6 years ago
Great and tasty. A bit more acidic than I’d like it but well balanced and specially a great aroma. I think it’s quite fruity. — 7 years ago
This wine has a moderate aroma of blackberry, smoke vanilla and spices. It is flavorful, full-bodied, high in acidity and has low to medium round tannins. The predominate flavors are plum, BlackBerry, vanilla, smoke and spices. — 7 years ago
Black fruit, tobacco aroma / grippy tannin / full bodied — 8 years ago
Quite dark with no sign of bricking. The aroma is powerful with dark fruit, some notes of oak/wood, coffee, herbs and some meaty notes. Definitely full bodied. Tannins are still present but are nicely integrated. Supported by good acidity but finishes a bit hot for my taste. — 5 years ago
Wine tasting at Arrow. Big aroma. A classic Tuscan. Big dark fruit burst upfront with a perfect dryness of dark fruit. A blend with complexity. — 5 years ago
Nice earthy aroma. Super smooth and tasty. Aged well — 6 years ago
Good aroma and even concentrated compared with 2012, from the beginning. Blackberry, licorice. Enough acidity, still need a decanting time. 2nd day, I found ink flavor. 4th day, much better in concentration and ink flavor. 2010 @2500, wine plus - XH , 180908-190330 — 7 years ago
12th bottle of this beauty we can't stop drinking as so good young! @£50 - reviewed before & was a quick bottle last night so I think what I said before captures it well 😁
A proper good Margaux! Dark plummy blackened red. Aroma of plum, blackcurrant & wet stones. Thick intensive balanced smooth jammy blackcurrant, cocoa & plums on palate with med body. Long back fruit finish with little acidity.
Mrs E suggested it's like "bare breasted maidens under a blackberry waterfall!" Who am I to argue 😎😍 — 8 years ago
