Ol Tuscan Aristocratic: gorgeous dark ruby w/noticeable bricking at edges: dusty country cherries & currants mingle with soil, worn leather & subtle spice. Something special about it - med bodied, well framed w/just enough acidity to spar w/surprisingly rugged tannins. Secondary elements really shine on mid palate. Graceful finish & cherry tinged follow through. Only thing holding this back is the marginal acidity. Drink up!

Enjoying this one with the christmas duck and and all. Dark fruit, deep sweetnes to it, and tobacco even. All good.

Whether I prefer this or Rancia depends on which one I have open at the time. Either confirms that Sangiovese doesn’t need to come from Montalcino to make truly profound, voluptuous wines.
