Cornas Syrah 1990

Lovely aromatics of earth, smoke and redfruits, very solid core of dried red berry and super savory flavors, still great balancing acidity, a little less of the rustic notes in this one compared to the 1985 Verset from last Saturday, long, lingering finish, another great Verset Cornas!! — 8 months ago

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Cornas Syrah 2014

A bit of oak, but not off putting,, red fruit, drinking well. The oak faded with air and it became more rustic and appealing. — 9 months ago

Vieilles Vignes Madiran Tannat 1990

[80% Tannat, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon] Leather, forest floor, maybe a little Brett, excellent structure and depth, despite its age, seems like it can easily age another 10-15 years, long, lingering finish, excellent Madiran! — 9 months ago

Domaine du Clos de Sixte Lirac Red Rhone Blend 2020

Nearly opaque crimson color.
Rich bouquet with tannins present.
Immediately spiced on the palate with an earthy, cocoa, herbaceous, candied, fertilized quality.
Lots of gentle chocolate rounded out by dark, fresh fruit.

Les Beaumonts Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

One of the most explosive, expressive 09’s I’ve had in recent memory, and one of my favorite Burgundy terroirs, 1er Cru Beaumonts is wafting from the glass tonight holding nothing back with layered and complex aromatics, a liquid cashmere palate with both power and finesse and a long, mineral inflicted finish. Exceptional showing. — 4 months ago

Cornas Syrah 2015

Was going to get the 2016 given I generally love that vintage across much of Europe but the somm talked me into the 2015 saying it was more open. He was right - this was delicious, and still traditional and “old school” with a restrained 13.5%. Tons of pepper and dark dark fruit with some olive. Very delicious with nice medium acid and a long finish. — 3 years ago
