Brief notes with the Christmas buzz happening. See previous notes from April 2021. This was a sensational Brunello from a good vintage. Has developed more leathery, smoky, earthy notes to go with the red fruited, menthol accented notes from previous tastings. An excellent accompaniment to Georgie’s puttanesca linguini. Sadly my last 2007.

Dec 20th, 2022With Lamb Chops on Easter Sunday. Crimson with a tawny rim. Aromas of menthol and freshly turned earth together with McBarens Plumcake Pipe Tobacco - after a while Lavender. On the palate very savoury dry plum, cherry with a touch of licorice and tar. Medium bodied with fine persistent tannins. An excellent Brunello from a good vintage.

WHN virtual tasting. 07’ Valdicava, Brunello Montalcino. Medium garnet in color. Pull the cork three hours ahead of time. Decanted it for one hour. The nose is simply out of this world! Black licorice & dark berry aromas, with baked chocolate. On the palate, it is velvety, rich in blackberry, black cherry. You get tons of leather/tobacco running to the back of the palate. Juicy tannins, with a long finish. Drinking now. Cheers

This is the sleeper of the night. Opened it to say hello but I'd definitely said goodbye to us and shut the door in our face. We revisited 3 hours later and there was a welcome Mat on the front Palate which stated "Welcome!".
Absolutely insane. Its transformation was insane. Beautifully integrated. The nose of the Night was a toss up between this and another. Incredibly earthy, leather, dark fruit & what a finish it was. Lance Armstrong didn't have this much stamina. Front, Mid & Back Palate . This is firing on all cylinders & we continuously revisited this one through the entire night.

Everything I want a Brunello to be and more! Savory, acidic, the tannins have mellowed some but this will age for many more years to come.

Really excellent. I was afraid it would be too young but this bottle is extraordinary. Meaty, leathery, dusty and just enough black cherry fruit to make it delicious
