Cran-grape-blackberry sensibility with dark roast coffee undertones, milk chocolate, carnation, caramel, dried parsley, carrot purée. Palate is coffee coated black currant, chicory, dried blackberry, bramble, cedar, tight and green oak notes, violet, baseball glove, tart cherry, tart raspberry and raspberry reduction. Rich offering here to satisfy the lofty spirit, but needs time to coalesce.
Pair with warm fires.

Surprisingly rich and elegant, blueberry pie and fine espresso notes, chocolate truffles. I noted some grilled meat tones that made me think of Syrah. Very satisfying after a short decant from 375.

Dark berries, dark cocoa, lavender, soil. A bit hot. Tannins are in check for being so young. Very nice!

Last nights wine we opened was the 2018 Shafer One Point Five Stags Leap District Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This vintage is a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, sweet tobacco, rose petals, mint and rich earth.

On the palate are wonderful notes of black cherry, blackberry, black currant, chocolate, licorice, lavender, spice, cedar and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied with a silky smooth mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + smooth round tannins that moves wonderfully into a long dark fruit earthy finish. The weekend is moving swimmingly forward with wonderful friends and loving family. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Nose: tar, blackberry, booze, graphite, dark raspberry, some kind of herbal tea, clay, minerals. Smells subtle and delicious. Taste: HUGE but subtle, tasty. Blackberry, tobacco and chicory. Lots of clay. Very smooth. I really like this. Rasberry Leaf. Nettle. Cassis. Some anise. Currant. Some coffee; bitter chocolate. Bitter jelly. Best wine I’ve had in a while. 94.

Shafer One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon 2018: Full-bodied. Balanced structure. Rich lush flavors. Black fruits. Vanilla. Tobacco. Oak. Smooth satisfying finish. No introduction needed. This was an amazing bottle of wine and the perfect complement to my bone-in filet mignon during my quick trip to Charlotte, NC. It was complex; it was powerful; it was outstanding and I cannot stop talking/thinking about it. Quintessential Napa, this is a remarkable wine on all fronts! Cheers🍷

Pretty darn good. Drank it a little too fast…should have let it get some air for an hour or so first.
Would buy again ~$100/bottle

2018 vintage. Pretty, delicate and balanced. Missing the back-end structure to vault it over the top but, then again, the Shafer style is not exactly big and bold.

Wonderful full-bodied and complex wine that accompanied our bone in filet mignon steaks at the Flagler Steakhouse in Palm Beach.
