I have high expectations for Sea Smoke, and especially for Ten, but this one didn't live up. It was good, but not great. Fortunately I served this first and followed with the '10 Ten (killer) and '11 Southing (good but needs more time). After a 5 hour decant the wine still tasted very one dimensional with nothing really jumping out.

09' The nose didn't show much. Decanted for an hour. Full-bodied. Black fruits of cherry, blackberries. The front & middle palate never came together as I hoped. After just having a an amazing experience with the 2010... unfortunately not with the 09'. A nice btl.

I did not realize I had a Sea Smoke Pinot this old sitting about. Not sure if the addition few years of age added much to it. I have to admit I love their Chard/Sparkling much more than their Pinots. Bright cherry, a little smoke, hints of minerality. All in all, I do enjoy these, just not in love with them. 9.2

One of the better Sea Smoke wines I’ve had in quite a while, this incarnation of Ten is terrific. More reminiscent of a Santa Lucia pinot than Central Coast, this has an intensity that is surprising given its age. Great layers of fruit with enough acidity to keep it alive, this is just terrific!

Just a bit ripe, with confectionery aromas. Fat, long and black cherry-cola flavors. A wine of the sun.
