2007. Decanted, needed a minute. Was celery salt to begin then opened with raspberry jam, fruit roll up, earth, iodine, dried leaves, roasted fruits and nice acid. Gotta say, these wines are made so big, they just don’t age very well.

Wednesday Wine Committee hosted by Dan. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. Tasted blind as usual.

Seemed over the hill to me. Little bit of burnt rubber on the nose, which took me to South African Cabernet or Chinon. Not much acidity. Good bit of pepper. Old black cherry. Not sure how common this is for the vintage.

Big and polished and round. Very deep flavor with a touch of cola. A bit big but, of it’s type, successful.

Really takes awhile to open up but it's worth the wait. Intense red fruit and spice with bracing acidity. A hair heavy on the oak for me but overall I'm pretty impressed with this bottle.

Took some time to come around. More earthy than I've experienced with Sea Smoke.

Right time to drink this and not just because it's Friday. Well represented fruit and tannin integration. Cheers to friendship!

Loads of cherry cola and smoke, hence the name. Smoky tastes of cherry and pomegranate. Even better than the 2005.
