Oh what a beauty it was. From perhaps Napa’s best vintage in the 80’s. Alive and well with wonderful complexity, an alluring bouquet and soft silky tannins. Caresses the palate with each sip. Sweet red currants, cedar, spice box, sweet tobacco and crushed red flowers. Finishes with impressive length and persistence.

For a 30 year old Napa Cab it holds up quite well. This Mondavi Reserve was a special Eine!

Continued to improve and elicit more and more fruit expression in addition to its complex tertiary elements over the course of the night. Not my typical wine of choice, but when you have an old school Napa cab like this, well stored and in pristine condition, it is a reminder why they hold such a special place in the wine world’s history.
