Medium lemon color, aromas of stone and citrus fruits with yeasty notes. On the palate flavors of apple and pear with lemon citrus zest and bread notes. Fine bubbles, light mousse, medium finish ending with fruit, citrus and yeasty biscuit character. Pair this with shrimp cocktail.

Tailgating for the first ski day of the year and kicking things off with this, because you’ve got to start off right.

Nice golden color with great small bubbles and a fizzy top. Smells of brioche, pear, and green apple. Quite dry, pleasant mouthfeel, and yellow apples and stone fruit coming through nicely.

Off to the slopes!

Bubbles to celebrate a close friend's engagement! Not exactly to my liking, but nice for the occasion. Quite rich and fruity. More oxidative and autolytic than the Cremant de Bourgogne we drank this with. Nose was like ripe pears on an almond danish. The palate was somewhat sweet - apples, marzipan, ginger. Could use a little more zing and mineral touch. Somehow, it finishes a little warm for me. Hmmmm.

Gift from Alan Alda and his team. Nose: orange morning bun or lemon brioche. Palette: starts with starlight peppermint then crisp Fuji apple, then a salty briney oyster and then finishes with a slow rise crispy sourdough. Butterscotch and coffee in there too. Consumed with a fried chicken dinner from GP beer during the quarantine April 5 2020.

Fresh green apples, bread dough, and toasted pecans. Round and classic champagne nose. Super smooth and soft, with brioche and honeycomb apple fruits. Pear skin and lime zest carry and balanced finish. Suprising length at the price point. Costco purchase.

A new-to-me cuvee from this widely available negociant. A bit fruitier, sweeter and simpler than their traditional brut. Made for discount grocers and big box stores, perhaps? Decent bubbles if you must have Champagne on the label, but better values abound from other regions at this price.

Traditional Champagne blend of Chardonnay (40%), Meunier (40%) and Pinot Noir (20%). Medium gold color. Aromas of pear and apricot. Palate is more dried fruit (green apple and quince) focused with hints of toasted nuts, honey and baking spices. Nice citrusy finish and creamy texture. Rich and elegant. Excellent starter.
