Quite unique, 100% Graciano. Deep dark red in color. Aromas of dried spearmint, muddled black fruit, smoked meats, leather, tar. Nice full, round mouth feel. More wood characteristics are present on the palate, still a hint of newish oak, with dried blackberries. 14.5 ABV, medium plus acidity, medium plus grainy tannins. Finish is long. Quite excellent. Research suggests that Graciano as a single varietal is quite rare, and this producer has a interesting story to tell.

Even with 9 years of bottle age there’s still a lot of youth in this #rioja #riserva 100% #graciano. Purple/red fruit on the nose, a touch reticent. Active on the palate with lively acidity and tannins continue to build with each sip. So youthful I’m eager to try the 2001 vintage of from this producer that I bought recently.
