Founded by Donn and Molly Chappelet in 1967 on renowned Pritchard Hill. A blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 12% Petit Verdot & 9% Malbec. Deep Ruby with purple edges, aromas of dark berry fruits, cedar, cacao and sweet herbs. On the palate rich flavors of blackberry and currants with sweet oak and herbs with a great mouthfeel. Soft fine tannins, long ending with fruit and sweet oak. Will improve but great now!

Tonight I have continued on from my Birthday on Monday and have opened another wine from one of my favorite wineries. I have opened the 2016 Chappellet Donn Chappellet Signature Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the nose there is beautiful fruit, black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, vanilla, lilac, pencil shavings, mint and a fresh earth aroma.
The palate has notes of black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, vanilla, violets, oak, spices, mint, pencil shavings and fresh earth.
This wine is full bodied that has a beautiful soft savory mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium + grainy tannins that lead into a long clean dark fruit finish. This is a very tasty and spicy Napa Cabernet. Big and bold with a great mouthfeel and nice complexity.
Needs time to open up properly.

Still young and needs longer time in the bottle to mature, but already yummy.
Interesting and delicious.

I had high hopes after hearing the reviews. First sip was understated Napa Cab, fruit but not over the top. All was good but then...the aftertaste was too burnt. At first I thought it was the bottle. So I tried another a few days later with the same result. It’s a good wine, but the reviews I’ve read make it sound great.

A wine with great purity and focus.. not too jammy but beautifully fruit forward with black and blue fruits taking center stage. Medium to full bodied with smooth tannins!

Clear, deep purple color. Clean, pronounced nose of red fruit, rhubarb, and tobacco. Dry with medium acidity. High tannin and full body. Tobacco, blackberry, and hint of tobacco. Long finish. Very good quality.
