I followed a 2005 Bordeaux with this... and despite the fact that the label scream "girls night out" it tastes like... well it tastes really good. Amazing achievement considering it's place in the lineup tonight.

This is really good ( despite the crappy label). Nose of flowers, earth, and with time, chocolate. A mouthful of lovely blackberry and sour cherry. Great value for $15. Get some.

Hideous label, solid wine. First time trying Mencia that I can recall. Gulpable ink dark table wine with enough aromatic complexity and mid palate weight to satisfy the wine snob in any group.

The ugliest label in memory--Las Vegas meets Depardieu in a back alley- belies a velvety, balanced& juicy bierzo. This is all about texture.

Wow, what a surprise. Thought I was in for a light, fruity red but this sucker has some depth and color. Has a beautiful dark red/purple color and an even more beautiful nose. Baked plums, milk chocolate, tar, and a touch of sweet vanilla. Almost smells like port/touriga nacional. Dark dried fruit on the palate, with some Asian spice, blackberry, figs, and a touch of earth. Soft tannins but rich, unctuous body. Great value for only $15 - would appeal to a cab drinker, Portuguese red drinker, or cab franc drinker.. in fact, the locals in Bierzo apparently thought for a long time that Mencia was related to Cabernet Franc.

I am a fan, value red, medium bodied with nice oak accents, rich black fruits and old world earth. Perfect served 65 degrees with grilled burgers

Dig it...a little tight and metallic on the finish (like I licked a metal pole? Don’t ask...) but lovely ripe blackberry nose with tobacco overtones with some yumi and shit.
