Lachini Black Love Pinot Noir 2016

The Megan Anne Cellars ‘Black Love’ Pinot Noir is a barrel selection wine sourced from both the Lachini and Nysa Vineyards. The wine saw some extensive oak treatment (16 months 60% new French oak) prior to bottling. There are lighter oaky tones on the nose that connect with dark fruits and tobacco leaf with damp earth. The palate shows good weight and freshness with black tea, blood orange, peat moss and cherry vanilla flavors. I really love the range here. While this is drinking marvelously now, the wine will cellar well for a decade or more. Drink 2018-2030- 93 — 7 years ago

Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky

Toffee and brown sugar, almost candied fruits. Mid-palette to the finish is a bit one dimensional, but a great go-to bourbon. — 8 years ago

White Label Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

2021 vintage. Medium body but filled with old-school passion, love and flavors. More than a hint of mint on the thrashing, tannic finish. Previous, similarly priced efforts from this producer left me indifferent/cold. It takes a lot to awaken certain things these days but this one got the overly jaded California Cab palate fired up again. 01.15.25. — 10 months ago

Engerstein Pinot Noir 2018

Outstanding - tastes like NSG/Gevrey blend. Quite dark. Dark fruit with a touch of cherry and a raspberry aftertaste. Cloves. Plenty of minerals. Very well managed tannins. This would be 80-100$ if it would be a Burgh. Bought only 2 bottles to sample the wine but will buy this in the future. Very Burgundian. If you want to pay less but still have the Burgh experience this is it. Lyle an of this left? — 5 years ago

Crazy Mary Mourvedre 2013

Wow! Still bright, chalky, and full of youthful grip. Red plum, raspberry, lichee and white pepper notes are most dominant. This could easily go another few years and not be at its peak. — 5 years ago

Suicide Shift Syrah Blend 2017

Yum! It is hard to believe how good this “bargain” wine is ($25 retail, less for wine club or when on sale too). Juicy red plum, strawberry and a hint of ruby red grapefruit dominate the initial palette, with delicate coco powder mouth feel and subtle espresso notes. — 6 years ago

My first time trying this wine. A honeyed nose conveys a sense of sweetness. The wine is not sweet, but it does have a certain sappy mouth coating quality. Need to taste again — 7 years ago

Shepherd's Mark Estate Grown Destiny Ridge Vineyard White Blend 2022

This is a delicious Rhone style white wine from Horse Haven Hills in Washington State.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

This Single Vineyard feels very much like a Rhone white.

A blend of 55% Roussanne, 30% Marsanne and 15% Viognier.

13.2% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$28.

Mark Bradford Vineyard Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2015

The Mark Bradford Vineyard has high elevation plantings to Pinot Noir and was the first vineyard planted by Grace and Ken Evenstad, aptly named after their son. Showing a deep core, the wine begins with intense aromas that instantly excite. Red cherry cola, cigar ash, peat moss, blood orange zest and pomegranate seed aromas all come to mind. There is a beautiful, seamless quality to this wine, as it effortlessly glides across the mid-palate. Wild strawberry, red cherry candy, black tea, cranberry, pomegranate and peat moss flavors all combine marvelously leading up to the finish. While this possesses notable weight, there is also a striking elegance. Surprisingly open and accessible, this is another stunning Pinot Noir from Domaine Serene and talanted winemaker, Michael Fay.
