Quite light straw colour . Green apple , lemon rind , white flowers and wet stones . On the palate high acidity balanced with hint of sweetness . Green apple , lime freshness , cool stony notes , good length and balanced alcohol . Simple but effective . Drink now but no rush over the next decade I should imagine . — a year ago
Another stunning nose. Apple. Green apple, barely ripe pear and stunning vivid minerals. Hint of smoke. Good breadth to the nose. Palate is ripe and rich but has such cut and minerality. Silky yet structured and just the mildest, complimentary hint of oak. Very very juicy. Complex, jagged minerality and some caressing barely there apple fruit. Long, even some lovey finesse and wonderful purity. Nose develops some woodsy, tree bark aromas after some minimal air. Also some lovely spice. Like an incense spice. Terrific depth. This is special. — 4 years ago
Confectionary nose that is teeming with energy. Awesome minerals, sugar snap peas and airiness. So clean and intense. Awesome. Has that 19 lift. Rich, yet also so energetic and crisp. Has terrific fruit intensity like apricot and kumquat but finished mineral and shows its limestone footprint. So good. Lovely tension between elegant richness and intense minerality and crunch. — 4 years ago
Elegant. Off dry. Classic. — 7 years ago
Beats the 2015 Thörle Hölle with ease. Soft mellowed out. Cardamom, orange zest, hint oregano, plenty tannins. Faint cherry. Needs air - give it 1h at least! In Germany 2015 was considered one of the best vintages ever. Can run another 5-6 years. For some reason i love the the E&M off vintages more - go figure? With air this further improved lime and more pronounced cherry. — 10 months ago
Nose: midseason cherries. Spice. Maybe cloves.
With air some savoriness, lilacs. More Burgundian.
Palate : sweet midseason cherries. Hint of licorice. Bracing acidity.
In an odd place now. Not showing it’s usual exuberance. Let’s see where it goes.

No formal notes. See @Lyle Fass review. Stop overpaying for burgundy, buy this instead… — 3 years ago
Gorgeous nose. Fresh mowed grass. Peach, apricot, minerals and some vulcanized rubber. Very petty. Amazing how sugar changes the whole equation. Nose gains depth and breadth as it airs out. Palate is lights out with unreal fresh layers of fruit, peach, apricot and white peach. Nose gets more evocative and blends limestone and vineyard peach. Such a summer wine. And likely great with food. Dense, light, nimble and just the right amount of barely there sweetness. Outstanding. — 4 years ago

So so intense, clean mineral lines & voluminous on palate-tasted blind my friend thought Chardonnay. 50 shades of apricot, a squeeze of petrol at end of long finish. Enough padding to be also Uber enjoyable. — 10 months ago
What a drop dead stunningly profound wine. Just so brilliant. Nose is all elite plum, black raspberry, mid season cherries, sour cherries, black cherries and lovely tree bark and a hint of herbals. So complex and so pure. There is a delicacy and elegance to the nose that is stunning. Also some citrus top notes. Palate is at once round and but also has terrific energy from what seems like stem inclusion. So nimble and pure. This has serious structure and the fruit in the palate is sweet but also high toned and cooling and one can tell this is a cool vintage wine. What an epic finish and such refined tannins. This also needs to breathe. And it will improve and wow what a wine. Let’s see where it goes. — a year ago
A perfume. All the better wines have a perfume in 2022. Persimmon. grapefruit, cardamom, clove, spice. Herbals. Stunning. Ripe but juuuuust ripe. That is a winner. 9.7 nose. Wow. acidity. Just an exciting vintage and what depth. Good dry extract. Long and so elegant. Edgy wine. Gorgeous and so pure. Such energy. So long. Stunning. Light and yet so dense. Really nothing like it. — 3 years ago

Really complete now. Starts out savory and sweetens up with air. There are such excellent chiseled minerals that get cut with air at the same rate that the fruit gets sweet and fleshy. The fruit gets more pink too, more raspberry than cherry. The savory component changes with air in a non-linear fashion, but it’s an excellent forest smell, wild maitake and violet. Really well resolved. Such fine tannins. Compared to the Thörle, which has more aspects to it, and now seems composed, this feels so much more organic and soulful. There’s not a jagged edge in here. Great. — 5 years ago

Lovely, perfectly balanced. Just the right amount of wood for just the right amount of brioche and lemon curd. I’ve been saying it for a while - German Chardonnay is where it’s at. — 8 months ago
