Stunning wine. Honeyed. But also slatey and wonderfully complex and nuanced. It screams of place. Schafer is amazing. Shows the richness of 07 with nice balancing acidity. Long, lean, juicy and amazingly complex. So pure. Haven't had Schaefer in a minute. — 7 years ago

Auction! Just goes to show not all #Riesling 2003s suck! Schaefer BA is another testament to the most underrated "great" vintage-HA! #31DaysGermanRiesling #SOR @SummerRiesling — 11 years ago
Thick, unctuous, one of the richest Goldcaps from Haag I ever had.
Mandarin, banana, custard, vanilla and tropical goodness. Only the faintest hint of petrol, lots of stony minerality. Terrific!

VDP auction bottling. Hard to describe this one as its weightless and in complete balance. There's no hard edges anywhere, but still one of the most hardcore wines that I've ever tasted. The acid level tips the scales and its tart citrusy profile does include some tropical fruits but this this wine is all about its acid drive and nervous minerality. Unique. — 9 years ago
Crisp, clean, mineral, pears and melon. Delicious! Paired with spicy Italian sausage. — 11 years ago
