Amazing wine. For me its texture stood out most. Crystalline and pure silk with unbelievable mouthfeel, volume and tension, gaining weight with each pour and building as the night went on. This will be one of the greatest Champagne’s ever made in 10 years. — 6 months ago

Charles Krug – Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Napa Valley, California – USA 🇺🇸
Overview
The 2017 vintage of their Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted primarily from estate fruit across valley-floor vineyards, showing an approachable and structured style. This wine is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon with small supporting portions of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc to round it out.
Aromas & Flavors
Black cherry, plum, and blackberry are joined by subtle layers of cedar, tobacco, and baking spice. Hints of mocha and graphite emerge as the wine opens, bringing complexity without overshadowing the ripe fruit core.
Mouthfeel
Medium to full-bodied, with polished tannins and a backbone of balanced acidity. The mid-palate is rich and velvety, while the finish lingers with dark fruit, oak spice, and a whisper of minerality.
Winemaking Notes
Aged 18 months in French oak (about 35% new), this wine is a balance of tradition and modern winemaking. Charles Krug continues to champion elegance over excess, and the 2017 vintage shows restraint despite Napa’s warm growing conditions.
Food Pairing
Pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, beef short ribs, or roasted portobello mushrooms. Aged gouda or firm sheep’s milk cheeses also complement its depth and structure.
Verdict
A polished, reliable Napa Cabernet that honors Charles Krug’s heritage while delivering a style accessible to today’s wine drinkers. The 2017 is drinking beautifully now, with enough structure to cellar for a few more years. — 2 months ago

I think I got this at Costco. Great wine. Citrus overtones, crisp, light. — 3 years ago

It was 19 in TX Tues, hailed yesterday, and is 80 degrees today. Welcome to spring in TX.
I love the info on the back of these bottles as they give detail to the base vintage and when they were disgorged. This is ‘08 base, disgorged 2017.
Right up my alley. I’d call this oxidative, but not overly so. There is a Krug-ness about this style. It’s toasty and savory with a little caramel, toffee and baked apple. Creamy. For my personal taste, while I enjoy all champagne cold, this is one of the few styles that holds up well even once it warms up slightly as there isn’t a lot of tartness here. — 7 years ago

Sabered to perfection for Boos Birthday @ Frasca — 2 months ago
Have wanted to try this vintage for ages and was worth the wait. Moussè perfekt and starting to take on more caramel notes. Lovely — 3 months ago
2004 base with wines going back to 1990. This bottle was even better than the last one I had about 1.5 years ago. Great richness and intensity with a long lingering finish. I have no doubt it will age but not sure how more enjoyable it can become. — 10 months ago

The fireplace reads, “Happiness is closer than you think, it comes in a glass of Krug!” Who am I to argue?
Every Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, I open a bottle of Krug Rosé. While their vintage cuvées are phenomenal, I really love their N/V Rosé.
It is delicate all the way around...shows such finesse and balance.
The nose so engaging. Cherry kirsch, strawberries, black raspberries, raspberry, pink grapefruit, tangerine, lean watermelon, light sea spray, soft of the softest most delicate; powdery chalkiness, sea fossils and volcanic minerals, hints of orange citrus rind, just a touch of baguette crust, light spice, fresh red floral and pink rose petals.
The body is rich and full yet feels like a feather on the palate. Super fine micro bubbles. Everything so beautiful, balanced and harmonious. Cherry kirsch, strawberries, black raspberries, raspberry, pink grapefruit, tangerine, blood orange, lean watermelon, peach, light sea spray, some of the softest most delicate; powdery chalkiness, sea fossils and volcanic minerals, hints of orange citrus rind, just a touch of baguette crust, light spice, fresh red floral and pink rose petals. The acidity is as perfect as it gets. The finish is absolutely incredible and persistent for minutes.
This bottle was corked in the summer of 2016. It’s a blend of 57 wines. The oldest is from 2000 and the youngest is from 2008.
I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas! Cheers!🎄🎁🎅🤶🦌⛄️❄️🍾🥂

Using Delectable library photo of Krug vintage. The one I tasted was 2006. A blend of 48% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 17% Pinot Meunière. Quite a high % of Chardonnay for Krug in this warmer year. So balanced and thorough. The aperitif we had at a Burgundy dinner in Sydney on August 7. Only catching up with notes now. — 2 months ago
