Schiller Berg rosé 2009, Carnuntum.
A mix of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and PN, quite dark in colour with fresh wild strawberries and strawberry aromas. Slightly tannic, the way a pomegranate is. Great balance and brilliantly drinkable. Amazing for an almost 10y rosé! — 7 years ago

Tasted following an interview with Ted Baseler (article on Chateau Ste. Michelle’s 50th Anniversary forthcoming in next month’s Somm Journal), the 2015 Eroica is the result of a long and fruitful partnership with Dr. Ernst Loosen. As such it sports an endearing touch of petrol on the nose, something I readily attribute to Rieslings from the Mosel. On the palate, its soft and round, with nice persistence. Certainly the most “serious” blaufrankish I’ve had, fitting for our first meal in Vienna. Deep cherry red in the glass. Aromatically quite giving with lots of red fruit. Medium plus body with a nice finish, though likely better with a bit of age. Nice wine! — 5 years ago

Rick & quite powerful yet elegant & complex at the same time. Aronia & black cherries plus spices. Aged in large botte and barriques with the wood perfectly integrated. Juicy acidity, with great quality of fruit. Very youthful for 10y. An amazing wine. — 7 years ago
