Weingut Keller

von der Fels Rheinhessen Riesling 2016

Excruciatingly intense, with a crackling fervency that pierces in high definition and yet I keep coming back for more (it’s my second bottle since Sunday). The fruit opens with the outside of a fresh peach pit, a whole pineapple, the best kiwi you’ve ever tasted, and all of it left to soak in lime juice. The fruit is equally matched by an ultra-focused minerality that combines dry chalk and bitter stone. The fruit and rock collide with so much excess energy that the flavor arcs across your palate like electricity. — 6 years ago

Wow, the acidity took me places! The nose is pretty clear and quiet: stones. I agree with Chaad; the palate is bitter with fruit like lemons and riper stuff, and the texture feels creamy. Most of all, I liked how the acidity came, went, and returned: waves, arcs, and angles. — 8 years ago

'Phaunus' Loureiro 2018

four days open stoppered in fridge makes this a great zoom finisher....pleasantly oxidized now it’s got enough dill to make an artisanal pickle and it’s tropical edge arcs toward apothecarial. some residual tension in the back with the acid even more present, and that grapefruit just a whisper. I would wager you can age this bottle. — 4 years ago

Domaine des Deux Arcs

Anjou Chenin Sec 2016

A bit simple (perfectly fine at this price) but pleasing - good varietal character with crisp acidity and some citrus and white flower character. Dry, and I love the hint of creaminess on the palate - it's lovely with food (I enjoyed it with oysters) and is an excellent value. Great summer sipping wine — 6 years ago

The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery

Dopplebock Duck-Rabbator Lager

Lager is only slightly misleading here. Red-black with creamed coffee crown. That laces and effaces with ram horn arcs that ride the ring around blackest space. Kona coffee and medium-dark chocolate charms lead coconut and malt notes into vanilla bean and creme cookie with ginger snap ghosts. Lovely and smooth with coffee and milk chocolate creaminess that begs grain earthiness to align behind its toffee and vanilla in caramel and sweet tea and finally dark cacao firmness. #beer #dopplebock #bock #theduckrabbit #DuckRabbatorlager #abv #dankbeer #NCbeer #Blacklager #duckgoatrabbit — 6 years ago

Paul Dethune

Grand Cru Brut Champagne Blend

This grower Champagne from Paul Dethune opens with pretty, almost coquettish aromas of alpine strawberry, cherry crumble, roses and the merest hint of earth. And while the Pinot stands out—it should it's 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay—prolific bubbles lead into an unexpectedly intense, tensile acid spine that arcs and releases into chalky repose. The finish is consistent with the nose, cherry skins, pink grapefruit and vanilla. Disgorged June 2014 — 9 years ago
