Very smooth. No note of tannins: velvet. Lovely finish. — 5 years ago
Last night in MT at the lake. Gave this several hours of air. Nice dark tawny color. Vibrant in the glass. The nose is great right away and stayed on point through the evening. Notes of black cherries, warm raspberries, old cedar, some plums and a little leather saddle. Rich and silky in the mouth. Velvet glove. Long finish. Great wine. — 6 years ago
Slightly over extracted and deeply concentrated, not something I usually enjoy much, but this is different. Aroma of black and blue fruits, dark chocolate, espresso that carry through the palate. Big and powerful in a velvet glove - wait, MollyDooker does have a bottle called Velvet Glove! The 16.5% abv was not noticeable. Immensely enjoyable. — 6 years ago
Very smooth with lots of berry. Good table wine for dinner — 7 years ago
Liquid velvet. Probably the most drinkable wine I have had in years. — 8 years ago
Smooth as velvet — 5 years ago
I’m not sure if it’s the age, but the balance of this ‘83 is quite amazing. The fruit may be slight past it’s prime but it’s kind of like drinking velvet, if velvet was a liquid. There’s a tiny bite at the end that’s a bit surprising. — 6 years ago
Sweet, but not overly so. Very good dinner wine! — 6 years ago
Love ChP when it’s got some age on it. (1998) Totally different beast and this was spicy velvet. — 7 years ago
Magnificent Bordeaux sample! Warm red fruits in the nose, with wet earthy notes. Smooth velvet tannins. I enjoyed it with miso-mushroom broth with dim sum with rabbit and wild mushrooms — 7 years ago
Wow, incredible, and still holding up after all these years. Upon opening, basically no fruit, all secondary characteristics, especially on the nose. As it opened up, some dark cherry appeared and eventually the nose and palate came together. A sensory journey 48 Years in the making and a pleasure to partake. — 7 years ago
The mouthfeel is a velvet glove. Just gorgeous and soft on the palate. Its hit a good phase & will still improve for another 7-10 years. Floral fruits with a raspberry heavy lean, blackberries, dark cherries, suppressed blackberries/black raspberries and a touch blue fruits. Soft graphite, used leather, dark rich soil, dry stone, crushed rock powder, fresh tobacco with brilliant florals that are purple, blue and framed in a field of violets. The acidity round & beautiful. The long elegant, well knitted & balance finish shows all the aged finesse & elegance that is classically Marqaux.

Pleasing, grapey velvet — 6 years ago
Smooth... Buttery finish. Full bodied flavor, but not overwhelming — 6 years ago
Bright, clear ruby with a great nose of cassis, blackberry, violet and mint.
Beautiful length and finesse. Great impression of crushed fruit with hints of forest floor and cedar. The finish leaves a lasting impression of sweet red fruit and supported by a soft blanket of tannins. This is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove - just lovely — 7 years ago
Yummy. Would drink again. Great for a glass. — 7 years ago

Ridiculous wine. Blue cheese, velvet tannins with the mildest chalk level, tiny amount of menthol and cherry, that made it perfect. Great wine for Todd’s leaving shindig — 5 years ago
