Deep Ruby, slight purple edges, aromas of sweet red and black fruits with pepper spice and oak, 100% Tempranillo, aged in American oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with licorice, cacao, vanilla and toasty oak tones. Massive jammy nose with lots of stewed prunes. Palate is much more restrained and complex. Silky mouthfeel. Still a big wine but a good lick of savoury spice. There is just enough acid and tannin to keep the beast in check. — 4 years ago

This Mexican red wine certainly feels earthy and fruity like other Valle de Guadalupe wines I have had. This wine, though comes from the Italian grape Nebbiolo, doesn’t really have the sharpness (full tannins) most Italian wines have and most often need a food pairing. This wine because it’s light, smooth and almost Zin-like without being overly sweet. — 5 years ago
