Powerful but smooth at the same time, a little acidic on tounge but rich in taste on palate, besides berry fruit I can taste some vanilla, aftertaste lasts for about half a minute. Requires some food if you ask me. — 7 years ago
Really enjoyable and smooth. A bit on the mineral side. — 7 years ago
#prowein2016 #mundusvini2016 — 8 years ago
Notes producer: Cabernet Sauvignon is a dry red wine with purple-red colour, discreet fruity aroma with undertones of spices and scents of sour cherry, raspberry and raisins. This full-bodied wine has well-balanced tannins and a distinctively elegant finish. — 8 years ago
Just great expression of terroir. Pity that a few bottles left in the warehouse. — 8 years ago

Sta reci...Vino koje me odusevilo. Vinarija Tikves-Alexandria(kupaza Merlo,Vranac,Caberne sauvignon),godina berbe 2012,14%alkohola. Treba ostaviti pola sata da se dekantira. Ima tezinu i oporost koju donosi Vranac ali ne "reze" toliko jer mu prefinjenost daje merlo i caberne. Podseca me na dzem od od sljive. — 10 years ago
Really delicious and smoother than many Rosé wines I have had. Nice fruit notes of ripe berries, but well balanced and not overly sweet at all. — 7 years ago
Yummy and perfect amount of sweetness. — 7 years ago
17/20 #prowein2016 — 8 years ago
Notes producer: Recognizable yellow-greenish, with complex and seductive aroma of exotic fruits, apple and peach, woven with tones of acacia flower. Long-lasting and tenable taste, glycerol-mild, with fruity and spicy nuances. — 8 years ago
Never heard of and can't pronounce the variety (Rkaciteli), and couldn't identify Macedonia on a map, so obviously had to try it. Really good! Distinct lemon-lime nose and flavors, almost like a bone-dry Sprite, lots of refreshing acid, very light and clean on the finish. One-dimensional in a good way, just fresh-squeezed citrus and not much else. The simple pure citrus character meant that it worked with lots of different food flavors, from salad to meat. Don't think we'll grow Rkaciteli in Napa, but it opened my eyes to the merit of a simple but very pure wine with a meal, like a cocktail ingredient rather than a complete ensemble. — 8 years ago

LONGING FOR THE SOUTH
Yesterday I drank this very nice Macedonian semi-dry T'ga za Jug red wine.
The wine is made of the native grape variety Vranec. It has an intense red color, and the distinctive taste of raisins and raspberries, which make it a nice sweet treat (hence: semi-dry).
The wine is named after the poem ‘Taga za Yug’ of the Bulgarian poet Konstantin Miladinov (1830–1862), one of the Miladinov brothers, who originate from Ottoman Macedonia. Both brothers are thought to have laid the foundation of the Macedonian literary tradition.
‘Taga za Yug’ means ‘longing for the South’ (el anhelo por el Sur): "If I had an eagle's wings, I would rise and fly on them to our shores, to our own parts [...] Here are frost and snow and ashes, blizzards and harsh winds abound [...] There the sunrise warms the soul".
When it is cold outside, and fiercely raining, I can assure you that it makes you long for the sun that warms the soul. Drinking the T'ga za Jug wine in good company and nice surroundings makes for a wonderful or sometimes even better alternative.
