Château Cantenac Brown

Alto de Cantenac Brown Margaux Sauvignon Blanc 2014

What a beautiful Bordeaux blanc this is. 'Balanced' is one if the best descriptors for this wine. It hits all 3 corners of the triangle of deliciousness. Floral, complex, and balance. Alto is also a great name for this wine, because the nose hits high, bright and round notes of lemon oil, fresh ginger, pineapple, vanilla cream, white flowers, and smoke/flint. The pallet has some bright juicy acidity, and a round, refreshing, and light mouth feel - lemon tart, candied ginger, tangerine, underripe grapefruit, and white pepper lingering on the pallet for an awesome finish. If you can get some still, buy it up. It's a must for the cellar diversity, and it was created to resemble the best of Sancerre wines. It shares a striking resemblance!

Vineyard: 1.80 ha

Grape varieties:
90% Sauvignon Blanc
10% Semillon

Fermentation: Hand harvested in small crates with refrigerated transport, slow pressurization by inert gas, alcoholic fermentation in barrels.

Ageing: 100% in one-year-old barrels

Domaine Huet

Le Mont Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2006

Honey and waxy, almost diesel notes. Some hard to pinpoint florals... maybe dried roses. On day two, pure butterscotch nose, more pronounced saline quality. Palate is acid, texture, and just a hint of rs in a perfect equilateral triangle. — 5 years ago

The Triangle

Sanctuary Vineyard White Blend

Fruity, interesting blend of viognier, rousanne, and Albariño. Creamy throughout. Nice acidic lemon-lime finish. Great with scallops. Surprisingly good! — 8 years ago

Triangle Geyserville Vineyard Old Vines Carignane 2011

This wine was a knockout! Full bodied, great nose and fruit and an earthy feel. Best Carignane I’ve had. It doesn’t hurt that it’s from a historic old vine block at Lytton Springs. — 6 years ago

Alvear

Fino C.B. Montilla-Moriles Pedro Ximénez

Here’s your classic everyday catch-all Montilla PX. Sea salt, green olives, Marcona almonds, crunchy stone fruit. Striking mineral and chalk aromas at the top. Will certainly hold its own with any young fino from the Triangle. — 7 years ago

Did not suck. Still fresh, but developing nicely. Perfect triangle between fruit, floral and tea/tannin/texture. Makes me want to buy a lottery ticket to afford this stuff. Thank goodness for great, generous friends. — 7 years ago
