Opened another recently, legendary wine, said that in the 18th century was introduced to Sultan of Constantinople's palace b/c of its clarity and called "mineral water from Carbonnieux", defying Islamic law. Pale lemon with pronounce aromas of tropical and stone fruits with herb notes. On the palate flavors of melon, mango, apple, green herbs and a crisp mineral edge. Medium+ length, balanced acidity, ending with a fruit, citrus mineral character. Nice, aging well. — 5 years ago

A few days late in posting wines from the Wine Thief dinner last weekend. A nice selection of wines, most of which I’d never had before.
This showed much better than the ‘07 I had a few months ago. Cassis, blueberries, granite, graphite, licorice and a rhubarb finish. — 9 years ago

Very unique. Needs to be sipped. We liked it but it was very strong tasting. Good for small samples for a fun treat. — 5 years ago
Can taste citrus fruit like pineapple. Drank with a fruit bowl dessert and went perfectly. Also good for just drinking without food. Chill this and it’s better. — 6 years ago

Typical CdR blend of Grenache, Syrah & Carignan with a dash of Cinsault, gives the typical fruit forward flavors (raspberries, blackberries, plums) yet in a very light, airy & crunchy manner - more of a gothic cathedral than a baroque palace.
On the palate this is also airy & light, with fresh crunchy fruit (Black fruit again, with a touch of olive), good quality, juicy tannins and a mineral backbone. Weightless almost, and this despite 14.5% alc!
A beauty!
