Weekly Wednesday Wine Committee lunch...always such a treat to attend. This week, Dan hosted. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All blind as usual.
These Carneros chards from Aubert always throw me for a loop. I pegged this as a west coast Chardonnay, but thought it was a Kistler. Very sharp mineral notes and acid...very different than Aubert’s other chards. I’ve not had the Hudson which is similar. This started off sweeter than expected and really transformed in the glass to show more floral/honeyed cashews that led me to west coast Chardonnay. — 6 years ago
Captured in the wild. Bottom shelf, no price tag, alone. 3 days ago...and this really threw me for a loop. Hands down best Bourgogne Blanc I’ve ever had. Malo, Battonage, oak, on a racy mineral ringing nerve of aligote?! Holding up like a fine 1er Cru white. What the hell?! I can’t believe I haven’t encountered this style anywhere. This is some brazen proof from Denis just how brilliant he is when it comes to making wine. Was really shining about 4 hours after opening, kept singing until it was finished about 20 hours later. Pina colada rich in minerals and acid. Hell yes. — 6 years ago
One of my favorites, this bottle kept up to my expectations of a food friendly crisp PG. Will buy again. North Loop, 2/17 $16.50 — 7 years ago

Loved this wine! From north loop — 5 years ago
Tasted blind. Really threw me for a loop. Had weight and texture of Cru Beaujolais but had a nose a bit more reminiscent of New World. Had a distinct menthol thing on the back end. Really interesting wine. — 6 years ago
Unripe honey dew on the nose. Floral honey. Mouthwatering. A little puckery on the back of the tongue. A little lemon. We liked the north loop liquors slightly better. 15 on last bottle. — 6 years ago
Finally found some wine. And killer rose at that. The blue bottle threw me for a loop but this was pale peach in the glass. And very fragrant. Bone dry but very nice strawberry flavors. Happy lunch sipper. But at 85 euros I got ripped. Welcome to St Bart's. — 7 years ago
Whaaaaaaa?! This changed my mind and threw me for a loop for any aged sweet wine going forward. It was so damn fresh yet deep but light but heavy but...but...I do not even know but what a goddamn treat. We drank on the podcast and all agreed it may just be the most extraordinary thing yet. Honeysuckle green things but honey and honeysuckle and orange rind and roasted nut but it is all mellow af and good lord this wine. Never looking at Sauternes quite the same. It was perfect. Oh and then we tossed some cheese into the mix. Explosion of expectations and everything. — 5 years ago
Elegant and fresh with amazing raspberry and soft strawberry fruit and a touch of wood spice. — 6 years ago

We had their white, not the red as Delectable is identifying it.
When put in between 2 California chardonnays, I was thrown for a loop. Thought initially it could be an Australian Riesling, but as you can see, I was way off. The hidden sweetness to it was unique, and it had great acidity. — 7 years ago
Such an insane wine. Really threw me for a loop. Eucalyptus, cured meat, mint, and (believe it or not) nutter butter. Paint, burning marshmallow on the nose. Made me stop in my tracks — 7 years ago

On Wednesday nights “The Local” in Minneapolis north loop sells full bottles at cost. Great value. This 2015 was a great less full bodied Cab with nice hint of cherry. — 4 years ago
