This is a cross between smoked blackberry pie, barbecue brisket with Sweet Baby Ray's sauce, and Lay's barbecue potato chips. The front of this wine is very opulent, very rounded and full bodied mouthfeel. Lots of smoked blackberry pie with graham cracker crust immediately in the front. The middle is where it goes a little darker. Smoky, ashy, meaty. Still finishes with some astringency. I think the consensus is that this one might be a slightly over the hill, and I would probably agree with that. However, really enjoyable wine that really would have gone well with an herbed pork or tenderloin. — 5 years ago
Profoundly earthy, with a great helping of pyrazine. Restrained fruit- blackberry and raspberry, and a garden-full of freshly turned soil, herbs and spices. Great balance of acid and tannin. Rustic and compelling - curious to see where this goes in a few more years. — 6 years ago

My wife commented that this had too much color and heft, given its age.
Deep, vibrant purple. Intense plummy fruit bouyed w warm toasted aromas that conjure vanilla, cumin, toasted oak. Dense, fleshy, long, with resolved tannins that still offer plenty of structure and elegant acidity. Among the best domestic, 'natural' wines I've had. — 4 years ago

16.5/20 (90/100) Аромат вишневого варенья, бальзамика и ванили. Остаточный сахар отлично балансируется высоким уровнем кислотности. Приятное во вкусе. Занятное вино. — 6 years ago

Cocoa powder, basil leaves, meat, game, smoke, elevated minerality, concentration, acidity, tannin and body lol. Large french oak barrels. Dark ruby. — 7 years ago
Robust viognier based blend that is heavy enough to please chardonnay drinkers but breezy enough to please the casual wine-o who wants something for a nice summer day on the porch. Loved it! — 8 years ago
Sweet, but as a new wine drinker with a sweet tooth it goes down nicely. Goes well with a curry. — 4 years ago

The 2006 Rusty Shed Chardonnay is a blend of four blocks of Chardonnay on the Flat Rock Property. Grapes are hand picked and hand sorted before whole bunch pressing takes place. It was then cold settled in stainless steel, 100% barrel fermented and left on the lees for 10 months. Wild and commercial yeasts were used for primary fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation to soften the natural acidity. The result?
Beautiful example of a mid to full bodied Chardonnay with butter, vanilla, apples and light spice on the palate. A lot of flavour and elegance at this price point. Sampled this 2006 in 2017 but this should sit well and perhaps develop more for a few more years. Best part? It's from Niagara! Loved it!

Soft fruit, some bacon, smoked meat, & herbs. Not very complex. Lovely BBQ wine. Unlike many WA syrah, not an alcoholic fruit bomb. However, terrible QPR for the level of vinous complexity on offer. — 3 years ago
