Terralsole

Trio Red Blend 2010

Wonderful Super-Tuscan IGT, 40% Merlot, 40% Syrah, 20% Cab Franc. V.2010. Unbelievably Smooth!
Decanted it for 45 mins, the aromatics were to the roof, the opening had an amazing medley red fruits, açaí berries, some violet flowers, intense on the dark plum and cherries.

On the palate, a subtle touch of marmalade, baked dark cherries and velvety taste with mouth-coating juiciness, medium tannins, long but smooth finish. A perfect companion with hearty Italian dishes, pizzas and reduce pastas and ton of cheese. Hard to have one glass only.

Another gem of Terralsole (Land Towards the Sun), a very small family-owned, an organic winery located in the Southern Tuscany. They truly produce award-winning Brunello di Montalcino, and exceptional Super-Tuscans IGT.
Cheers!

Deep Ruby color with berry fruit, fragrant spice and earthy cedar notes. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry, plum, leather and cacao with notes of floral spice. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, tobacco and cedar wrapped in an earthy herb mineral spice character. Drinking well. — 10 months ago

Pasticcio Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese 2006

Terralsole (Land Towards the Sun), a very small, family-owned organic winery located in the Southern Tuscany. They truly produce award-winning Brunello di Montalcino, and exceptional Super-Tuscans IGT.

This Pasticcio label falls into their cult wines they produce, it was created to honor the Bordeaux tradition, where the winemaker Mario Bollag made his wine Oenology studies.

This super-Tuscan is a blend of indigenous grape Sangiovese with an outsider varietal of Cab Franc and Merlot, the result; very red fruit driven perfumy-styled that wake up anyone’s olfactory sense, it has some delicacy. On the palate, the medley of berry flavors are harmoniously concentrated, ripe and remarkably fresh for a V.2006,  the wine literally dances on your mouth gracefully and elegance.

Mouthfeel overall is dominated by richness, and lush with a juicy finish but not over lingering, just right!

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Excellent! Tasted along side the 2010 Terralsole brunello, which was slightly better at this point but this was amazing as well! — 4 years ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Medium bodied, tannins are there but soft and integrated; cherries and a touch of sweetness on the tongue. Pleasant enough, but I found it a bit thin. More minerally than fruity. Good, but I was expecting a bit more. — a month ago

Il Palazzone

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 1996

This was a pre-Parson Il Palazzone, back when Mario Bollag (now Terralsole) owned the property. Dick (Parson) invested a lot into Il Palazzone after 2000 and the estate’s reputation today is largely known under his stuardship.

Poured into a decanter about 2 1/2 hours prior to service to remove sediment and give this 28-year old some air. In the glass, the 1996 pours a deep garnet with a brown tinge and a near opaque core. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous, with some VA and notes of desiccated, red and black fruit: Morello cherries, strawberries, brambles, figs, along with leather, porcini, forest floor, espresso, and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins (fully integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium, and the body is medium. White this freshened up with air (recommended), it is clearly in the sunset of its life. That being said, it has plenty of stories to tell. Drink now with a decant.
