Brioche, apple, nutty, marzipan and nice acid. Think this is probably about 15-years old. Really nice. Happy 4th! — 10 months ago

Ultra Brut Sparkling Wine

Consumed 05/2020. It is 100% Pinot Noir. I did not know that was the grapes used to make this. Blanc de Noir translates to white wine from black grapes. Elegant, complex, round and toasty. It’s very refreshing. — 4 years ago

Late Disgorged Brut Chardonnay Blend 2012

The ‘12 is not quite as round as the ‘11. Not showing it’s 6 years on the lees as boldly. Still some toasty notes to compliment the white fruit and acidity. Has only been in bottle for a few months so might integrate a bit more in the short term. — 5 years ago

Blanc de Noir Carneros Sparkling Wine

From a very recent disgorgement after a couple of years hiatus for this wine. Still extremely fresh in the bottle and tastes slightly sweeter than the 9gl/liter dosage at this stage. White cherry and almond along with the darker fruit profile from the 100% pinot noir (although this is completely pale). Nice now, but a couple years to chill in the bottle will help improve. — 6 years ago

Clonal Series Pommard Carneros Pinot Noir 2018

Nice American Pinot Noir. While fruity it still had great elegance. Tannins were smooth and rounded. A great value under $35. — 6 months ago

Exemplaire Grands Crus Limited Edition Brut Champagne

2014 FIFA World Cup series. My goodness, dark gold color, brioche/strawberry aroma, yeast, lemon curds, bread pudding. Spritzy start, blueberry scone, noticeable sweet quality-shockingly good. — 4 years ago

Brut Rosé Blend 2014

This is the vintage rose, a step up from the cuvée pompadour. Still quite young and fresh red fruits burst from the glass as the pinot dominates. It’s balanced by great acidity and a crisp finish that lets the fruit keep shining. These will improve for several more years and should be drinking great a decade in. This was best on night 3 as the fruit profile settled nicely into the rest of the structure. — 6 years ago

Got to pop some special bottles when my good friend Shawn came in to town!

I was ecstatic to open this and it ended up being one of the most spectacular champagnes I’ve had in recent memory, and possibly one of the most spectacular champagnes I’ve ever had. This single vineyard Blanc de noir from EO spent 6 years (!) on the less and was disgorged July 2018. Gorgeous golden straw color in the glass with minuscule bubbles. A totally dizzying aromatic display of ginger shavings, toffee, caramel dipped golden delicious apples, red berries, orange honey roasted cashews and some beautifully oxidized notes. Rich without being dense, a gorgeous palate profile of hazelnuts, lemon cream, brioche, chalky limestone and a finish that just doesn’t want to stop. This is a marriage of Krug & Taittinger Comtes. Stunning!
