Tarraford Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

Could not see that I have rated this vintage on Delectable before. No formal notes. I recall it being fuller and more textural than usual with a certain creaminess. A good blend of citrus and stone fruit with the right amount of French oak. — 4 years ago

Darker and more brooding than Primavera. More structured. Plums, cherries, lilac and dried strawberries. Blood/iron notes. Classic — 6 years ago

Curly Flat

Macedon Ranges Chardonnay 2016

Half bottles are a delight. A lot more developed than the last encounter, in a very good way. Nougat, nuts and sweet oak spice coming through to complement the rich fruit. Delicious. — 7 years ago

Shiraz Viognier 2015

Made by Tom Carson (chief winemaker at Yabby Lake) as his side project. 2013 and 2014 (the latter being Halliday’s wine of the year) of this wine were awarded Australia wide Trophies and Tom says this 2015 is just as good. Sweet red fruits (mulberry) with heaps of spice - Barb said peppery notes. A fabulous wine with impeccable balance- a perfect match with the free range chicken dish that Barb created. 98 points from James Halliday. Tom Carson for the last few years has been Chief Judge of the Royal Queensland Wine Show. His expertise shows in his winemaking. — 7 months ago

Yarra Yering

Dry Red Wine No°2 Shiraz Blend 2005

Signature Bailey wine, volatility evident with lovely spice and lifter nose from Viognier. Also some tart cherry evident which was unexpected. — 10 months ago

Curly Flat

Pinot Noir 2017

It’s been a while between Curly pinots. Always a joy to open one, with fond memories attached along with the pleasure of the wine itself. Despite five years from vintage, this is still young and stern but elegant. Clear lines and structure, a spicy, cedary top note amongst red fruit and firm but soft tannins. Clean, I’d call it, plus whole bunch characters. Quality pinot undoubtedly, that should improve even more. — 4 years ago
