A delicious wine; slight barnyard nose, rich raspberries, chocolate, Madagascar vanilla bean, and black pepper on the palette. — 9 years ago
Black cherry fruit accompanied by a heavy dose of grilled meat and gym socks. Inky color, strong legs, medium-bodied. Unfortunately, in keeping with the spirit of the Olympics, it didn't stick the landing -- the finish is short. Overall, fantastic but this is loaded with secondary flavors and has to be your thing. — 10 years ago
This is an underground stick-fighter in Rangpur. Fast on the attack with loooong, brutal 90+ second finish...it's the scotch of wine. — 10 years ago

Highly recommended wine with very rich and round taste. — 8 years ago
This was a wonderfully complex flavorful Cab. This was the only Roundpond offering we liked. Need to stick to the granite series. — 9 years ago

2010. I knew it. I knew I should have waited. But noooo. A powerful, complex, and elegant wine. But still so concentrated, so youthful. It really deserved 5-7 more years minimum. Dang it to heck. But, because it's already opened, I figure we might as well enjoy its deep and delightful deliciosity. Tremendous but nowhere near its peak. Double decant? Seems like it almost didn't matter. 9.4 and rising. But it won't survive another assessment. — 10 years ago

Happy Holidays! — 9 years ago
Yum! Just starting to try to identify notes though I've been a wine drinker for years. I always describe what I think I like as "chewy, heavy, big". A friend recommended this after tasting it and reading the tasting notes. It is my hands down favorite. Now if I could figure out what I love about it, then find less expensive similar wines for every day. — 10 years ago
2011. Drank three glasses trying to figure out this wine...sometimes there was a little petrol, mineral, and stone fruit like a riesling; sometimes lemony citrus with nice acidity; some herbal and floral notes; full bodied and a little oily. — 10 years ago

The nose reveals; brambly, blackberries, dark cherries, stewed strawberries, blueberries, hints of slightly cooked rhubarb, mix of black plum & plum, creamed raspberries, vanilla, touch of cinnamon, clove and even less nutmeg, dark spice, underbrush, soft leather, fresh tobacco, limestone minerals, dry herbs-bay leaf, mid, mixed, berry cola, crushed, dry rock, steeped fruit tea, cherry kirsch, slight liqueur notes, candied; violets, fresh dark & red florals with hints of lavender.
The body is full, still youthful and lush. The palate & tannins are rounded but, teethe, tarry & a touch austere. The tension, structure, length and balance are very nice but, still have 7–10 years good drinking ahead. Brambly, blackberries, dark cherries, stewed strawberries, blueberries, hints of slightly cooked rhubarb, mix of black plum & plum, creamed raspberries, vanilla, touch of cinnamon stick, clove and even less nutmeg, dark spice, black licorice, underbrush, old, soft leather, fresh tobacco, limestone minerals, dry herbs-bay leaf, mid, mixed, berry cola, tarry notes, crushed, dry rock, dry top soil, steeped fruit tea, cherry kirsch, slight liqueur notes, candied; violets, fresh dark & red florals with hints of lavender.
One flaw, the first glass showed a little to much alcohol heat but, dissipated after. 14.5 ABV...seemed more like 15.5.
