Well balanced. Good price point. Reliable standard. — 10 years ago
Wonder if it is the signficant proportion of decade-old reserve wines that makes this one of my favourite standard non-vintage blends? It is always fresh, complex and interesting. Met madame C. Curie at the Clos who works at Heidsieck and got a run down of the business and an invitation for November. — 10 years ago

Pleasant red table wine. Would go to this if I was in the mode of using red table wine as s standard for dinners during the week day. — 9 years ago
This wine was given to me last Xmas and it was the best gift I got! This full-bodied, fruity, wet red is my personal reference standard against which all future red wines will be judged. Not a hint of dryness, lovely flavours, and very, very drinkable. This is the first wine I've ever bought a case of. — 10 years ago
The '15 has the same familiar nose. The brilliantly gorgeous, & inviting nose. Papaya leads but the California standard of melon is right behind it. Toss in fresh Kaffir lime, Meyer lemon, juicy grapefruit & the nose is complete. Palate is Sémillon driven, but perhaps too much. The creaminess, weight, and silk complexity is ever present, but doesn't lead up to the hype the nose makes you anticipate. The palate is currently quite clunky. — 10 years ago

Nice. Standard, big napa cab. Might be too young. Got better as decanted. — 13 years ago
2012 Vintage. The gold standard of Cru Beauj from Morgon. For a reason, because it is SO good. — 10 years ago
1995 Château l'Evangile from a half bottle. Still has that nice ripe red fruit, menthol, tobacco, truffle, wet leaves, and dustiness on the nose. Medium bodied, rustic, and at time austere. A medium length finish. Could benefit from a bit more acidity, but otherwise the balance is there. Still has tannins to resolve. Based on experience from half and standard bottles, this is a great time to drink this wine as it's definitely in its drinking window. My only concern is that as its fruit fades, it may become austere to the point that some may not enjoy it. But right now, there is a lot of old style charm that is easy to like. There's also no rush to drink this, as I'll bet the fruit stays ripe and in the forefront for a least a few more years. — 10 years ago
I know people bitch about the Caymus and Silver Oaks of the world. They bitch because it's consistently great and set a standard. — 10 years ago
