Wow! Drinking like a wine less than half it's age. Such a shame that this style of wine has one out of favour. The perfect off-dry wine. Sublime nose of almost buttery (though not in an oaky sense) unripe peaches, spring buds, and a hint honeysuckle. Cutting acidity and great length! — 8 years ago
Still holding up after 45 years...great acidity and fruit! — 10 years ago
Phenomenal Auslese from this out-of-the-way Staatsweingut Trier vineyard. Pale green-gold sheen of a very young wine. Beautifully pungent yet delicately nuanced nose of raw unripe grape juice and pips, peach kernel, Chinese gooseberries, dragonfruit, and dandelions; stunning concentration of flavours on the palate with crushing layers of musky fruit and incredible knife-sharp acidity. This excellent example of the '83 vintage just goes to show how nowhere in the world even comes close to the M-S-R! — 10 years ago
2012 - very well balanced — 11 years ago
Nice sweetness level. Good length on the finish for a wine in this price range. — 9 years ago
Wonderful wine, clean palate accessable and power, notes of leather, Ash, back currant and hint of citrus — 9 years ago
Second time I had this Alte Reben Kabinett. Tasting sample at the Auction in Trier in which this Kabinett was sold at a price of 160 Euro netto per bottle. A new world record for this Prädikat. Although this is A LOT of money, this wine defined how a good Kabinett should look like. Light without beeing thin, lots of beautiful aromas on the nose, nearly weightless. Incredible tension, perfect, ripe acidity. Just wow. A real Champion. — 10 years ago
Strong pear fruit, with moderate minerality and acidity. It seemed to me to be a little sweeter than some kabinett wines, and to have a hint of the spice that Riesling sometimes has. — 10 years ago
#1934 was one of the three best vintages of that decade in #Germany, along with 1937 & 1938.
The #Staatsweingut #Rheingaus produced in this era were excellent; especially those from the steep, #slate soil sites of the majestic Rüdesheimer Berg.
This is a perfectly balanced wine when it comes to sweetness versus acidity and in no way a big, fat, syrupy overstated example of late-picked #Riesling, but rather restrained by comparison...a wine one can easily drink more than one glass of--GRANDIOS!!! #klostereberbach #tba — 11 years ago
Mineral and pear. Slightly sweet. Went excellent with spicy tofu dish. 2012 — 8 years ago

I found the cow; I put my lips to the teat. I highly recommend Das Weinhaus in Trier, DE, if you find yourself near the Mosel. — 11 years ago
interearing sekt made from scharzhofberger fruit. definitey showing the minimal fruit and mineral, linear character plus the purity from this excellent site. — 11 years ago

Very nice Lemberger, in its prime. Rich yet lean, very dry with pronounced acidity. A hint of Italian influence, with its tannins and a slightly bitter note on the finish. — 6 years ago
