Wine from Linich’s that we drank while making Supplis and Crispetis for Xmas 2018 — 6 years ago
The winery began in 1927 when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased vineyards in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. Sweet fruit aromas with floral scents. On the palate raspberry and strawberry flavors lightly toasted oak notes with a touch of black pepper. Generous acidity with fine tannins, good balance on medium finish. Good value, drink now. — 7 years ago
Robert Talbott Sr., his wife Audrey, and their son Robb moved to Carmel, California, in 1950, where they started a luxury tie company. During silk buying trips & visiting vineyards they became interested in fine wines, do in 1982 along with son Robb, started Talbott. Aromas of berry fruits and cedar notes. On the palate cherry and raspberry flavors with vanilla spice and oak notes. Well integrated, soft tannins on a medium finish ending with earthy mineral tones. — 8 years ago

A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, dark red with ripe dark berry scents and vanilla spice. On the palate sweet blackberry and cherry flavors with current and cacao notes. Fine tannins on medium+ finish ending with nutty tones. — 8 years ago
I can't believe I only paid $14 for this wine. If you shop at Trader Joe's you must try this. — 8 years ago
My first Aszú, and what better way to taste it than in the Tokaj with István Szepsy Sr., a 17th generation winemaker. It's amber colored and viscous with magnetic aromas of marmalade and dried apricot, fleshy quince, burnt caramel, nutmeg and dust. On the the palate, this wine's considerable gravity, a honeyed elixir with an RS of 280 g/L has density, and yet, there is lightness and elegance too, felt along an acidic spine that is complicated by flinty smoky notes, crushed stones, walnut skins, and wild mushroom. — 9 years ago
Perhaps, our favorite non Burgundy white. It is unique among whites.
Also, one of the best afternoons we’ve enjoyed. Appointments at Clos Mogador & Erasmus. Then, lunch looking back at both properties from Amcis. A great meal we would give two Michelin stars. This wine and a custom four course for two for only 70 Euros in 2015. Fantastic restaurant. A must do in Priorat.
The nose reveals; ripe & slightly sour pineapple, lemon chiffon, mix of well extracted stone fruits, notes of lime candy, banana peel, slight burnt brown sugar, blend of chalky minerals, volcanics, chamomile, vanilla bean notes, well cooked toast, sandy dry top soil, fennel (grows everywhere), tree bark with sap, mix of dark & white spice w/ white dominate and a fields of spring flowers.
The body is full & round with good viscosity. slightly sour pineapple, lemon chiffon, mix of well extracted stone fruits, golden apple to cider, tropical melons, kiwi, notes of lime candy, banana peel, fringes of marmalade, slight sugar in the raw, blend of white, chalky minerals, mint, volcanics, crushed dry sandstone, saline, chamomile, vanilla bean notes, well cooked toast, dry herbs, sandy dry top soil, fennel (grows everywhere), tree bark with sap, mix of dark & white spice w/ white dominate and a fields of perfume spring flowers with mixed greens. The acidity is round and rushes like a river. The long, rich, well knitted & balanced, polished & elegant finish goes on & on ending persistently w/ sweet white spice.
The 2017 is different than the earlier vintages we’ve had. It needs another two years in bottle. If you drink now, fully chill and decant 2 hours.

Founded in 1982 Robert Talbott Sr., his wife Audrey, and their son Robb, with the planting of the 24-acre Diamond T Estate Vineyard and the construction of the first winery in Carmel Valley. Aromas of crisp fruit with scents of oak and floral. On the palate apple and pear flavors with sweet citrus notes and tangy acidity. Lingering finish ending with a creamy texture — 7 years ago
Deepest gratitude to the ever-so-generous and thoughtful @Dean Bernal Sr. for this gem of a Cab Franc. Plum and pepper, chili powder and chocolate, tangerine peel and espresso, and Rutherford dust and cedar. — 8 years ago
Wow 1986 Robert Mondavi Cab from Oakville donated by Henry and Val! Opened with a group of friends. Showing great for 31 yrs old. Black fruits, cassis, great depth, reminds be of a classic Bordeaux. Label said 12.5 alcohol which made this wine hold together I think. I give this a solid 93+ Rating in my book. Thank you Robert Mondavi Sr. — 8 years ago
What a tremendous gift to taste the legendary Szepsy wines with István Szepsy Sr., while visiting the Tokaj region last week. The wines are impeccable, as is the case with the Szent Tamás Furmint 2013. Pungent aromas of quince and orange, one might call this wine pretty, were it not for its serious underlying structure. Minerality, tightly wound, ricochets through intense, capacious layers, homing in on the finish—a final volcanic, terroir-driven, granitic burst that makes these wines so compelling and unique. — 9 years ago

Sancere style. High mineral. A little sweeter than acidic, but drinking from a bottle that Lana Sr opened yesterday. — 5 years ago
Lovely. Courtesy of SR. Smooth and full with good depth. Fruits came out with the filet steak. Lovely spicy finish (7% petit Verdot). — 7 years ago
I gave a few of these away as gifts a few years ago. Probably shouldn't have done that because this one is singing now. NEVER would have guessed if this was a blind tasting that it was an 04 Napa...would have guessed 11 or 12. Very youthful nose, that leads to an equally youthful palate. Nose of blackberry, grilled meat...lavender<?>. Entry was blackberry, cassis, grilled meat, more to the middle was black licorice and some black pepper spice that stayed through the finish. Full bodied palate. I am still just astonished at the youth here. Finishes with a great traditional blackberry and black pepper. Tannins are much softer than the 14 VS I had 3 months ago. Autographed by Peter Sr, Jr, and Marc. This one seems to have the guts to go another 10 years easily, maybe longer. We are RIGHT THERE at the top right now, so if you have this wine I'd consider opening at least one bottle in the next month or so. — 7 years ago
Fabulous blend with floral character delivering tropical& stone fruit flavors but not overly so... beautiful open mouth feel (not like Sauvignon blanc at all) like a unique Sr mullin moscatel blend. Drinks easy... — 8 years ago
Established in 1861 as the first winery in the Napa Valley by Prussian-born Charles Krug. Today the winery remains under the stewardship of the Peter Mondavi Sr Family, who purchased the historic winery in 1943. A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 1% Merlot, dark red with ripe dark berry scents and sweet spice. On the palate sweet blackberry and cherry flavors with leather and cacao notes. Firm tannins are a bit tight but opened up by the time the bottle was empty. — 8 years ago
