Aligoté doré from the village of Bouzeron (which boasts the best Aligoté in Burgundy and an AOC dedicated to this grape), by none other than Aubert de Villaine, legendary codirector of Domaine de la Romanée Conti. From old, low-yielding, organically farmed vines on the appellation’s highest slopes, vinified in foudres and aged for 10-12 months. Bright, elegant, complex and mineral. Dry but delicate. Apple. Blend of Viura, Albillo Mayor, Alarije (Malvasía Riojana), Jaen, Palomino and even Chasselas
doré from odd vines interplanted within Sabinares’ old vineyards’ predominant red varieties. Fermented in stainless steel, oak and concrete tanks, and aged with lees for nine months. Elegant and complex, with nuanced aromas of nuts, yellow fruit, quince and pollen and extraordinary acidity — 5 years ago
Perfect Sancerre. Crisp, light, and refreshing. — 5 years ago

This is perhaps a little closed right now. Syrah-dominant with a fair bit of oak-treatment so will need a little while to blossom. Although it had the mellow character of an early-drinking wine, the winemaker told me that it needs 15 years to show its best. In fact, when I told him the 2006 I opened the other week seemed a little closed he told me to forget about it for another 10 years. Clearly one for the long-haul. — 7 years ago
Gah. So good. Mosel-esque with a depth that reads like egg custard. — 8 years ago
— 10 years ago
2018 vintage. Intriguingly the back label states 75% Sauvignon doré (never heard of that so will have to do some research) and 25% Sauvignon Gris. Vinified and aged in wood (with 25% new barriques). Aromatic, with bright fruit and perfectly integrated oak. Great value at 9,5 euros. — 5 years ago
Thought this #sangiovese was awesome considering most imports are sent with oak in mind. It's high acid and racy because it needs more time. Exceptional #wine in my opinion. True to varietal and plenty of room to grow. Subtlety damp, high acid, high cherry with a focused level of robustness, cherry skin. — 5 years ago
This is not the Carignan blend, but I can’t seem to edit the descriptor. This is the 2012 La Joupatiere and it is one of the most unique and interesting wines. Thank you Colline de l’hirondelle. As their website explains, “The oldest vineyard in the village! Planted at the end of the 19th century, it miraculously escaped phylloxera and the uprooting of old vines that has plagued the Languedoc; this tiny one-acre plot is a conservatory of rare and disappearing varieties. A local vine scientist has identified the following 13 varieties: Carignan noir, Grenache noir, Cinsault noir, Mourrastel Boucher noir, Rivairenc noir, Grand Noir de la Calmette, Mourvèdre noir, Terret noir, Terret gris, Terret blanc, Olivette blanche, Chasselas doré, Valencin rose and two mysterious varieties are still unidentified.” What a blend. — 7 years ago
