Doing a staycation at Marriott Newport Coast. 2013 didn't do much for me on this Valentine evening. Tasted side by side with 2014 Sojourn George's III. — 7 years ago
Lots of character. Drank this next to the sojourn and liked it a little better — 9 years ago
More depth than the Sojourn from same vineyard — 9 years ago
Dark fruits - cassis, blackberry mixed with cedar box, menthol and vanilla. Nice mouth feel with soft integrated tannins. — 9 years ago
Dark red fruit, Asian spice and rich earth tones. Well balanced, subtle and silky tannins. — 9 years ago
I haven’t had a French love affair in awhile, but here I find myself again. The sound outside of the “gite” window during the afternoon sojourn of me and “x” Frenchman is one of honey bees flitting from the stamen to stigma of strawberry plants, impregnating rosettes to guarantee me even more days of oenophilic passion. (D, the husband I briefly forgot about, indicates he bought this at Cambridge Wine & Spirits). — 6 years ago
Fruit upfront then earth....sooooo smooth!!! — 8 years ago
Huge wine. Very rich and fruity. Not over the top — 9 years ago
Excellent. More refined and less concentrated fruit that the Sojourn Pinots that Erich makes, but just as delicious. — 9 years ago
Not bad at all! Bright ripe fruit, somewhat boozy, plenty of oak, Napa in a good way. — 10 years ago
Great mineral-driven Chardonnay on par with Burgundy. — 6 years ago
Another dip in to my TX wine journey, but this time with a twist. Spicewood sources fruit from Cali and WA state for a few of their bottles and makes them at the winery. This RRV Pinot is from Wohler Vineyard (I believe Sojourn makes a nice Pinot from here).
Ruby red in the glass. The nose on this is quite spot on. Black cherry, maple-birch wood, and stewed blackberries. Acidity is medium. Fairly light on the front and mid-palate but a LOT of flavor on the backend...strawberry and raspberries preserve, herbal seasoning. This wine benefited from food being paired with it (my wife’s awesome cauliflower crust spinach and chicken pizza in particular). — 6 years ago
This needs a lot of air time right now. It was definitely better after an open overnight sojourn in the wine fridge. — 8 years ago
One of my wines of the year. — 9 years ago
2007 vintage. Slight spice and firm but smooth tannins. It's aged well and is probably at its peak. — 9 years ago
Sappy, stems, caramelised sweetness; medium bodied juiciness. Moreish, a little black fruit depth - reels you back in. — 9 years ago

Compared to the 13 Sojourn, this pinot just didn't compare. By far, the 09 KB and the 13 Sojourn outdrank it. Poured a little translucent. The nose was red cherry. Some herb. Finishes rather unidimensional. I think this one will be better in a couple of years. What this one needs is two years of bottle age. Just doesn't have the depth....now. — 6 years ago
