Snow Farm Vineyard

Jones Family Vineyard

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

Nose has ripe plum, mashed blackberries, dark chocolate powder, strawberry jam on leather, molasses, molasses cookies, wet soil, nutmeg and vanilla bean.

Palate has blackberry compote, black cherry reduction, partially dried plum, wet baking spice, wet+dry leather, dark chocolate shavings, (light) oak/vanilla influence remains. Extended finish, really starting to pick up incredibly at 3-4H in the decanter.

Paired with Allen Bros. ribcap (USDA Prime version) tonight, unfortunately our grill has a 4ft. snow drift in front presently so the best I can muster was a super hot cast iron pan from the oven, then onto stove with lots of butter and in 7m total we had beef to die for...Which I had some competition for dining this evening.

This bottle was a very generous gift from my West Coast brother
@David T from earlier in the year. My work travel schedule was hectic and never found a good time to settle in on a weekend with the wine or pairing, until now. (I've lost track of the amount of COVID tests I've done in the past 5M, but all have been negative 🙏 to date.) A fabulous gift to enjoy now that I'm hopefully relaxing for the next 2w...
Happy Holidays to everyone.🎄

Billecart-Salmon

Brut Réserve Champagne Blend

Enjoying some bottles along side the warmth of the chimenea, today is a brief respite for the seasonal weather, tomorrow brings snow again.

Nice bottle, gaining complexity with air time. Enjoyable, but for $50 we've had better bottles for less cost.

Watch out...that Billecart can be addictive. Just saying. 🧐

It's the rosé that's the go-to bottle, but since you cornered the market at Whole Foods a week ago, I can't find any, so had to settle for the regular bottle.

Typically stay away from nigori, but got this one in a subscription box, so I paired it with spicy Chinese chicken. Perfect smoothness and hint of sweetness. This will make a fan of anyone who says they don’t like unfiltered sake. — 4 years ago

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2006

Celebrating snowpocolypse 2019 and 33” of snow today... paired with USDA prime NY Strip. Nose of roasted hazelnut, clove, plum and luxardo cherries. Juicy, slightly thin cranberry and cherry fruit. Soft mouthfeel and touches of leather. Weight speaks to a weaker vintage. Drinking great now. — 6 years ago

Laguna

Russian River Valley AVA Chardonnay 2015

White peach. Clean. Oak. Warm. Smooth. Crocuses peaking through snow. Apricot. A bird takes flight. I’m typically Autumn- this is Winter into Spring but I like it very much. Subtle. Haiku. — 7 years ago

Château de Francs

Les Cerisiers Côtes de Francs Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Vintage 2015 / This is a benchmark for Bordeaux from more unknown AOC’s, ‘petit Bordeaux’. Deep dark color, 4/5 transparant with starting of a brown rim. Purple reflection. Classic Bordeaux smell with laurel, plums, even some pencil shape. A restraint smell at this moment. Some tannins in taste, needs a decanter or air in the glass. With food it’s already delicious. That is if you like a bit stubbornness as I do. Very good effort. / Paired with tenderloin and snow peas. — 6 years ago

Iced up in snow and getting nicer as it warms up. This is going to be very tasty with my Cajun shrimp dish that I am concocting. Still to cold since it’s been outside for most of the day but a little lemon drop is jumping out. Yum!! — 7 years ago

Von Winning

Deidesheimer Riesling 2014

Crushed rocks, snow, white leaches, peach skin, lime zest, verbena, lime blossom, slight kiss of barrel influence, slight nuttiness coupled with some leesy notes. A touch plush on the attack but racy mineral driven finish follows. Crumbly/spritzy texture. Great value. — 9 years ago
