Opening up like a Pinot, started off with potpourri and lemon zest, floated off to sandalwood, cigar tobacco, white and yellow flowers, blackberry, and leather and bee pollen. Flavors swing from bright, lemon-fresh berries and somehow flow through a gammut of berries and grapes into a dark, cocoa, flinty rock. A single, elegant cascade through flavors that lasts over a minute. A slow ride that ends so sweetly and softly you forget how much you're looking to sip again. I snuck aboard the space station and made my way to the holding cell where I was told the princess was being held. Upon breaking down the door, I was confronted by a short person in a diaper and odd headdress who said "I'm sorry, but the princess is in another death star".
About that time all the alarms in the space station started going off.
After some brief firefights I found myself cornered, my only escape to done down a shoot into a garbage compactor. So I did. Once in the trash compactor I met a friendly monster called a Dianoga. We shared a lovely bottle of Slow Press while the walls of the compactor slowly closed in on us.
Fortunately for me, I'm the hero of this tale and, as such, made a timely escape, rescued the princess (eventually), and managed to do it all without realizing I had spilled wine on myself. — 8 years ago

Really well made, beautifully balanced and slow to reveal its depth. Disclaimer: it's hard for me to get past hints of Brett so the nose was a bit of a turn off, but it was not enough to make it difficult to enjoy. Fancy lil wine! — 9 years ago
Tonight we are drinking Machete 2014 California red wine bottled by Orin Swift Cellars. The one with the naked lady on the front of the bottle standing beside her car with the door open. Hummmmm. Well the cork was well preserved. The color is dark and the legs are long and slow. The bouquet is blackberry cobbler. The initial palate is slamming with sweet black currant - whatever that is so Im guessing because I have never tasted a currant. However, I just ordered the juice! The flavor is blackberry and cherry! The finish is very dry with a short ending of vanilla and a tart cherry pie. Simply Devine! I want another sip! It is sweet but very dry! I love it! — 9 years ago
From a great old looking bottle with a mid shoulder fill. Cork is fully saturated and the crud under the capsule had formed a strong seal. Slow-ox’d for a few hours, then decanted for an hour or two before taken to L’Escargot in Carmel. Amber tawny rims with a reddish tawny core. Crazy nose right from the start. Notes of sweet black cherries, tobacco leaf, plums, black pepper, ash and crusty wood, pencil shavings, some just unwrapped cigar and some menthol. Silky in the mouth with firm structure and soft but present acidity. Long and memorable finish. Outstanding performance over several hours. — 5 years ago

Opening the bottle to breathe the subtle oakiness hits you with some spiciness and a hint of dark fruit. Tasting it made my mouth dance. It is smooth with very little tannins. Mind you, merlots are my last choice, however this one sat around long enough to be very good. — 8 years ago
What a beautifully graceful wine! A bit muted on the nose (slow ox for three hours - perhaps I should have decanted) but one of the most amazingly expressive palates I have experienced for a very long time. All the elements in perfect equilibrium; one of the rare times that I would actually apply the term 'smooth' to a wine. Tannins still lightly peppery, poised acidity, and an insanely long velvety finish that kept revealing hidden layers of complexity. Like a Burgundian peacock's tail that keeps expanding, adding new layers of graceful shades and patterns to the rolling tapestry of flavour. — 8 years ago

Where to start? Ridiculously good says Elizabeth. Floral aromatics reminiscent of perfume dance you towards the mid palate extravaganza of flavors - Asian pear, fresh lychee, elegant tropical fruits that move towards mid palate of small elegant bubbles with a lovely full body; effortlessly sashaying into a long finish that keeps giving. Made by superstar winemaker, Randy Dunn, of Dunn Vineyards, the 2017 ‘Feather’ by Long Shadows is a masterful effort from this exciting warmer vintage in Washington. Once on the nose there is a lovely round core of toasty oak that wraps around the rich dark fruits, sagebrush and chocolate fudge aromatics that all meld in the glass. The palate is silky smooth, revealing a round and generous mouthfeel. The seamless effect created mid-palate is utterly fantastic. Black currants and blackberry cordial dance with shades of Black Forest Cake and espresso bean on this highly complex palate. This finishes long with dark fruits and a beam of minerality. While enticing to savor now, the 2017 ‘Feather’ will have a long life ahead of it. If enjoying in its youth, be sure to afford a two hour decant prior to enjoying. Drink 2021-2040- 95 — 5 years ago
Slow O for 10 hrs. Pretty Cabernet nose and delicate, elegant palate. Nice balance but feels really light. Almost no tannin. Not what I expect in a Kap GV. Vintage specific, I suppose, but the 2011 Roberta’s from last night had much more tannin. Very food friendly wine. — 7 years ago

@Mike R @David L @Joe Lucca @Ron R @Paul T The WOTN was a beauty so generously given to me by my Bud Paul Treadway! Thanks Paul!!! The tasting notes between the Beau Vigne Estate and Morlet's Coeur de Vallee are eerily similar. The true differentiation between the 2 is Morlet's seem less integration at this time. My buddy Kirk @Kirk Alexander always says "The test of a great wine is when nothing jumps out at you". This particular bottle did just that. Every person this evening commented on the fact that it was such a superbly balanced wine. It was dialed back ever so slightly in all the right spots for it to dance on your palate effortlessly.

It was enjoyed by friends outdoors on this beautiful S FL cool night. What else could one ask for?

Smells like a spiced pastry
Lively! Red stars dance across the tongue for only a meaty mingling moment, before the tannins start smacking every part of the mouth, up, down, left, right, Jab, Jab, Ka-pow! Those knock out tannins longer on and on.. and on..
Wish I had bought 2 bottles, this needs at least 5 years to relax those teen tannins.
I mean, don’t close your mouth for too long on these tannins, as they act like a vacuum and super glue. You’ll never get your jaws apart.. — 4 years ago
