Deep rich Crimson. Touch of vanilla after decanting which blew off. Notes of Pipe Tobacco Baking spices and mineral. Was worried about the 2014 vintage which was poor in many parts of Italy but the process of Passito and the added concentration turned this into a wonderful wine. Perfect with Linguini Reggiano and fresh Tasmanian fine Truffle slices in the finest Olive Oil Bellissimo!! — 7 years ago
Refreshing and explosive. Tart and tangy. Pairs beautifully with slices of orange. — 9 years ago
Summer baked beans and rice milk seep from toasted oak, like dense rich caramel syrup. Buttery white and sun dried black tea leaves fall at the back and stretch to the middle of your tongue leaving hints of dragon fruit, wet rooibos herbs, and roasted coffee . A touch of bitter dry plum seed wrinkles the tongue shortly only to give way to refined banana and sugar cane laced rainwater.
Cereal milk and warm beer wort soak dried oats and caramelized pecan droplets. The sweet sweat of miso infused pork belly glycerin skips from the back of your throat to the white of your teeth - vaporizing into peach and whip cream Belgian waffles with a touch of bourbon vanilla and fresh strawberry slices that have been soaked in watermelon juice. — 9 years ago
Smokey red fruit nose followed by red fruit tinged with vanilla as silky tannins let this very round aromatic cab/merlot sideslip down one's throat. Groovy stuff working well with sweating slices of Ossau-Iratti and bresaola at Tampa's Haven😎 — 9 years ago
Nose of green appley crispness, fresh unripe green pear with a hint of gasonline and vanilla on the end notes. Palate of acidic fresh lemon slices, green unripe herby lemongrass, and a long yet lightly creamy finish from the lees. Purchased on my Madrid wine tour. — 7 years ago
This is a fruit salad... The flavours danced upon my tongue like a take that ballad... Here is my meal for Bacchus .. Apple slices, green grapes, crackers, butter, bread, selection of cheeses and this wine... New Zealand you are the Pinot King ... — 8 years ago
Candied, gelatinous orange slices, caramel apple, heavy oak masking vanilla until lemon oil rises up like smoke to obfuscate all but a maple-y burnt sugar aroma. Creamy bourbon into an almost brandy Alexander that explodes with pumpkin purée and accompanying pie spices. Gets very smoky, and peppery in a molé manner. Overly rich with brown sugar, burnt toast, coriander, orange bitters, marshmallow, Anaheim pepper, tree bark, allspice, rosemary, and a slew of other spices. A lot to finish with. Whew!! The pumpkin is there, though!!! #pumpkinbeer #jacked #crookedline — 9 years ago

APPEARANCE
This Champagne wine is clear in appearance, with medium gold color intensity. The mouse is fine with persistent bubble streams.
NOSE
This nose is clean, with medium+ aroma intensity of leesy notes like fresh baked bread, biscuit, a touch of cream and then fresh red apple. The nose is developing.
PALATE
The palate is dry, medium+ in acidity, with a medium body and alcohol. The flavor intensity is medium+ with the bread and biscuit notes following on from the nose, with a juicy acidity and fruit flavor that reminds me of fresh red apple and pear fruit slices and a beam of stony minerality. The finish is medium plus with a lingering chalky texture on the palate.
CONCLUSIONS
Outstanding quality, this "Grower" Champagne wine is precise, superbly fresh and balanced, with complex nuances. it does not try hard, but once you pay attention it is hard to turn away. This wine is ready to drink now, but has potential for aging. — 9 years ago
Fruity with a little spice — 9 years ago
Nose: blackberry compote and pepper
Mouth: blackberry compote and pepper......and spice, a slight prick of heat. Sounds like it might be cough syrupy but it's not really.
It all comes together much better with a couple hrs of air and a few slices of homemade sausage pizza — 10 years ago
Another 15 Berlioz freak show. The overachieving runt of the litter, the Altesse. It's my sentimental favorite of all the wines. Super high acid is probably why. Also the unique flavor profile. Huge deep aromas of mountain violets, other mountainous wild flowers, earth, intense almost saline feral minerality. Fruit, flowers, slices galore. A regular aromatic symphony. Stunning. Just so sick. Palate is at once unctuous and rich yet super fine, elegant and shockingly refined and balanced. Prodigious concentration and purity. Opulent yet fresh and super precise. Amazing power. Amazing density yet playful. Great great wine. — 7 years ago
Most interesting wine in this tasting. Deep copper in color. Caramel, dried orange slices, autumn leaves, vegan leather, floral, dried apricot, walnut skin. Medium plus acidity, medium plus sugar, medium alcohol. Really interesting orange wine. — 8 years ago
Perfect pizza wine. Enhanced the onions and bacon in our extra tomato sauce slices. Love. — 8 years ago
Lovely, pleasing Australian that sings and slices my palette; this is the Hugh Jackman of wine. — 9 years ago

My kind of Chenin! Dry and layers of flavors. Paired very well with lobster bisque and even held up with the first couple of slices of beef that were served afterwards (wine sukiyaki style). — 6 years ago
