Darker and more brooding than Primavera. More structured. Plums, cherries, lilac and dried strawberries. Blood/iron notes. Classic — 5 years ago
Prior notes from 125 weeks ago still apply although I didn’t find this full bodied like I said over 2 years ago. There was that stalkiness and more savoury than fruity. The Yarra Valley is so versatile and does all the great grape varieties well with the exception of Riesling which is not planted. — 6 years ago
Between Applejack and Sexton, this displays strawberries all day, with twists of mushroom funk, sandalwood spice, and red cherries. Good — 7 years ago
Delicious fruity and unoaked — 8 years ago
Pre and Post Yom Kippur wine. I forgave @Benoit Touquette for all his sins!!! Haha. Extraordinary effort. This wine gets better with each vintage. — 8 years ago
Almost 2 yrs ago I wrote: "Half way through a case and the romance deepens. Giant scorched earth and oiled leather nose. Epic battle of extracted dark-red fruit sweetness and a light juicy acidity. All in a smooth-as-silk package. Ageing so gracefully, 10+ years from peaking." After last night I'll add: probably peaked after 2 hr decant, no need to wait but this has the tannins and pure extracted fruit to take it at least 10 more years. — 9 years ago
V17. Pretty good... opaque color. Smokey nose. Substantial black cherry fruit. Black pepper, chocolate and earthy finish. Nicely balanced . — 5 years ago
More delicate and filigree than Wombat. Traditional chablis profile - citrus, some mineral and spice from oak. Linear and focused with strong acid spine. — 5 years ago
Superb. Really nice - flavourful, juicy, fruity, smooth. Buy again soon — 7 years ago
Fantastic wine — 7 years ago
Aromas of citrus and pineapple juice. Fermented in a clay amphora on Skins with no Malolactic Fermentation. No oak. This wine making gives another level of freshness, intensity and minerality. An excellent wine from one of Australia’s pre-eminent wine makers, Steve Flamsteed. Winery says cellar up to 6 years - I cannot see my bottles lasting that long! — 8 years ago
Delicious and crisp wine, with slight berry note, but still quite dry and smooth. Great feature at total wine in VA — 9 years ago
Good stuff 👌🏻 — 5 years ago
Perfect with my steak & shrimp dinner! Not sweet at all (which is normally what I look for in wine).. I’m sure I’d be told to serve warm but wine for me must be cold. I’ll buy again for compliments to my meals. Could even see sipping it for a nightcap on cool nights. — 7 years ago
Great Chardonnay. Ticks all the boxes. Beautiful line and length with plenty of fruit and subtle winemaking influences. Delicious — 8 years ago
Nice wine that is going to take 8 years in bottle to integrate the fruits and minerality. The dark & mid red fruits show nicely but it still has astringent flavors and mineral bite. Photos of; their tasting room, outside fountain and Napa bud break, just not vine bud break. — 8 years ago

About as good as Aussie pinot gets. Aromatically explosive - dark spicy fruit, mushroomy funk, and a menthol/tobacco note . The palate is full bodied and silky without being heavy. The quality of the rich dark fruit needs the acid and honed tannins of a young vintage. This would make old bones given the balance, but I prefer the young precocious colt. This is serious and nothing like the Giant Steps pinots of previous notes. 94++ — 5 years ago
