2013 J. Schram Blancs - 87% Chardonnay, 13% Pinot Noir. Schram Blancs are aged for 8 years on the yeast in their historic Diamond Mountain caves. This wine can be served as an aperitif or enjoyed with food. Definitely some toasty brioche and lemon curd happening. Easy to smile about this one when it gives you fantastic zippy acidity and elegance, both at the same time.
Who knew I would enjoy champagne and sparkling wines this much?! Oh has my palate evolved.

Popped and poured. This is actually 90% Pinot Noir with Chardonnay making up the balance. The 2014 “Noirs” pours a light copper color. It’s a much richer, gastronomic wine compared to the standard BdN but 3x the time on lees will typically do that. The nose has quite an oxidative character with some stewed raspberries, bruised strawberries, almonds, and brioche. — 7 months ago
