The Campill 2014. fabulous. — 6 years ago
Super dry and silky. Earth notes and dried strawberries. Crazy light rusty color. Great slightly chilled. — 6 years ago
What a PG should be. Mineral, citrus, good acid. A fine food wine. — 6 years ago
SAVE FOR A NICE SPRING/SUMMER AFTERNOON - Portalis - In cabinet — 8 years ago
Pomegranate, frozen strawberries, cranberry concentrate, rhubarb, white pepper, raspberry tea. Snapping acidity, light medium bodied, juicy texture, minimal crunchy tannin presence, long fruity slightly smoky finish. Aromatic, alpine freshness persists, as evolved as schiava/vernatsch/trollinger gets. — 8 years ago
Surely young, surely delicious !!
I consider the vernatsch, which we call in Italian Schiava gentile, our petit pinot noir.
This is an established label of an old vines version, a rare example of schiava that does age very well.
This is a wine somehow that if you blind taste it you could mistake for a white, absence of tannin and good freshness. With time it builds up a bit of flesh, but it does remains generally a grape to drink when young. Best examples are in the St. Magdalener denomination.
Still i enjoy this label everytime and also the other schiava Girlan produces.

— 6 years ago
Lovely, fragrant, floral, strawberry joy. All about the fruit. Like Frappato from the north. — 7 years ago
Earthy, medium bodied, rosemary, sage, light cherry — 8 years ago

Lighter red. So good — 9 years ago
A sweeter red, not dry, refreshing — 5 years ago
Light, transparent ruby. No shortage of funk on the nose - lots of manure, mushrooms, and dried herb with little to no fruit. Medium, but gritty, tannins and less acid than I was expecting. In the mouth the earthiness continues with dark, stewed fruit - lots of plums. This smells better than it taste, but was different and enjoyable for pizza night. — 5 years ago
Pale red tastes great on day 2. Light, fragrant, delicate. Easy to drink but not too easy. — 6 years ago
Tropical and mineral nose, pineapple and mango. While the fruit somewhat dominates, it is a nice dance on the palate of fruit, acidity and earthy flavors. It is a wine with character as any white from the Tre Venezie area in Italy. This wine is from a local grape called Kerner. From Karen McNeil’s Wine Bible: the grape was created by crossing the red Schiava grape with white Riesling grape... explains the fruit forward characters if the wine. — 7 years ago
Holy shit. My first Schiava - why am I not drinking this all of the time? Light mouth feel with bold fruit and a touch of almond extract — 8 years ago
Cherries and nice acidity... Served it with Nona's homemade ravioli and was delicious! — 9 years ago
