Gran Seleccion Cordon Negro Brut Cava Macabeo-Xarel-lo-Parellada

Nice straw yellow color. Small, delicate bubbles. Smells very fruity with tart apple and pear on the nose. Yum! More mellow than crisp, and had a nice lingering finish. Love. — 6 years ago

La Araucaria Valle de la Orotava Tinto Listan Negro 2015

Oh what a 2+ hour decant will do. This sings much clearer. High toned, but integrated tannins, crushed red fruits & that amazing volcanic thread, and, made by a woman vintner- thus better. I hope I can age a few of these. — 8 years ago

Savory, pungent, explosive aromas. Mushrooms cooking down in red wine. Umami. More umami. So good. Maybe not aging for much longer, so go get it. At its best in the glass, it had moments of brilliant lusciousness. Happy to have experienced it. — 11 years ago

Santo Stefano di Perno Superiore Barbera d'Alba 2015

9.0

Expressive nose of sweet and sour cherries, blue berries, incense, and dried flower. Round and bright palate with medium to high acidity and soft bittersweet tannins. From a tiny 2/3 of a hectare family holding of the Santo Stefano di Perno vineyard, aged for 18 months in used Slovakia oak barrel, this Barbera shows exceptional freshness and purity of the fruits at this young age, but also has depth and structure to age further. — 8 years ago

It's a 9.5 kind of night. Oh my Dorthy, how I wish we were eating pizza with this. The pasta with fava beans, mushrooms, and prosciutto did us well though. Have to get another bottle of this for future use. — 9 years ago

Complete unadulterated decadence. Rich raisin fruit and toffee. This wine needs to be treated like a single lick of an ice cream cone. To fully appreciate, keep on the tip of the tongue. — 10 years ago

Part of me wishes the amazing stuff coming out of Chacra could just be our little secret...it's getting scarcer and more expensive!
