1958 vintage. Served by Gaia Gaja at the Gaja winery. Pale ruby hue. Earthy, manure, hint of morrel mushroom, not a whole lot of fruit - mature. On the palate, medium plus acidity and body, medium alcohol, medium minus integrated tannins and medium plus finish. Still very much alive although doubt it will get better from here. Very good. NB: still going strong after 1.5hr in glass. Remarkable. — 10 years ago

This beer is my jam. Just lovely. Light on the palate but a little heavy on the belly with a meal. — 11 years ago
Aromas of dark cherries and raspberries. Some blackberries among the rich luxurious oak. Superb taste and balance with amazing body and finish. — 12 years ago
Smell of cherry oak and vanilla. Very smooth taste and finish. Touch of acidity and well balanced with nice longer finish. — 13 years ago
Though tamed by age, ruby fruit comes through plumes of cured tobacco and shrewd vanilla melodies. Tannins remain strong and elevate the finish, which is longer than expected for a wine without any definite sharp edges or exclamation marks. This wine is unquestionably full and robust despite sighs of deserved exasperation. — 9 years ago
On the nose, it comes across as a tightly wound coil , with tart cherries, minerals and exotic spices.
On the palette, the wine stands firm and bold. Tannins are far from resolved (even a touch gritty, perhaps), which was a surprise. It's a strong example which was dense, layered and compact. We popped n poured, to which I plead guilty. — 10 years ago

Charlie & Chuck's 2nd vintage - still going strong - all parts Cabernet old school style. Last bottle from the cellar. Meant to try it last year. — 12 years ago
Very good - which was a surprise, I'm a Cab-Sav girl. — 12 years ago
Smell is almost a little on the corked but Is ok. Ok new bottle. Dark berries and soaked. Incredibly smooth and well bodied. — 13 years ago
Just a special experience. The nose was powerful and dynamic evolving beautifully over 30 minutes. A smokey phase, a pine phase, and a strong floral phase. The palate was balanced and smooth. The fruit was dead but resembled fruit leather. Two bottles opened, one had grip left, the other didn't. #moutonrothschild #grandcruclassé #2ndgrowth #bordeaux #pauillac #1928 #ctbucklinwine — 9 years ago
Classic California style although not over powering which is a nice change. Good fruit chocolate. Moderate soft tannins. Good finish. — 10 years ago
Needs two hour decant. Muted nose and higher acidity until it opened. Pretty cab blend with higher tartness at the finish. Unfortunately this was the weakest among a very strong line up last night. — 10 years ago
Strong, black cherry flavor in there, nice strawberry smell. 2010 vintage — 11 years ago
Slight vanilla and crisp smell. Some pear too. Taste has some bitter and sour notes but malactic makes it a little smoother. Minerally. Better with food. Had butter garlic clams. — 13 years ago

This tastes more like a Bordeaux to me than a Cab from Napa, but it is so excellent that I'll let it slide. This is a full bodied wine with strong oak, leather, smoke, and honestly a hint of tree bark (in a wonderful way!) This is close to a perfect wine. Buy all you can. — 9 years ago
