This lower tier wine from Hightower stands up to time very well. Well balanced fruit and structure 8yrs in. Thanks Tim&Kelly! — 6 years ago

The most intense label I’ve seen on a wine, but unlike some pretenders, that intensity carries through everything: colour, nose and flavour concentration. Red frogs, lingonberry soda on opening, turning to a super fragrant middle eastern spice mix and lamb drippings and - this is intended as a compliment- burnt strawberries and rhubarb shrub (the vinegar cordial kind). Great structure and pitch perfect savoury finish, tightrope tannins. Was expecting frivolity, but this pipe blew me away. — 7 years ago

Pours as vibrant as the label. A blend of pan-Mediterranean varieties, led by Tempranillo and Nero d’avola, that makes for a surprisingly generous, juicy expression of the whole zany zone, AND YET grown in the SA Riverlands. These bullets hit — 8 years ago
Great pungency and old world taste. Definitely going to purchase again — 9 years ago
Aged sir lie for 26 months, King Estate's 2008 Limited Edition Blanc De Noirs is finely wrought, with a delicate bead that gives lift to baked apples and orchard fruit notes, followed by buckwheat, dried marjoram, and whipped butter. Nice concentration on the palate, with eccentric rings of kumquat, sea foam, and walnut skins that impart a subtle and delicate bitterness as they meander to a long, protracted close. 13.5% ABV | Sample — 9 years ago

From the warm Riverland area this is a very tasty Monte. Fresh and spicy. Smooth tannins with a slippery mouthfeel. A great bistro wine to serve by the glass. Postscript: The ultimate Pizza Wine. — 5 years ago
