Less tight than the precedent vintage. Wide nose of red berries; griottes mostly. Mouth opens with generous volume and gains in definition fast. Fresh retro, long after taste #bestofgivry — 7 years ago
Blind tasted. Nose is very tight; star fruit, green apple, hints of poolside vapors. First sip is intense, acidic and tight as well, a few chews revealing structure and contained complexity. A nice buttery and ripe fruit retro really shows the quality of the wine, in conclusion. Very hard to describe - a thinker - that's for sure. Still very young - a sleeper - that's no doubt, pleasure was partly intellectual. I'd recommend to carafe for half a day or to taste the bottle over a few days. Taste around 14 degrees. Richly aromatic and lovely retro-nasal scent of spice and overall richness. The taste is ample and powerful. #cuveebois #lescretes #chardonnay #onceuponawine — 8 years ago
Excellent from first nose to retro, dangerously easy drinking. Mouth concludes with the Lapierre tart chew signature smooth katana. Best Lapierre Morgon since the monumental 2010; keep on the good work Mathieu and Camille, someone up there must be very proud. — 8 years ago
Mind blown. How is it possible I've never even heard of this producer before? Thank you to Mannie Berk and Rare Wine Co. for putting Champet on the radar. This fully lives up to the sales pitch. It is about as ultra-classic a Cote-Rotie as I've ever had, almost like a cross between Levet and Jamet. Even the label design is retro. The material is red-fruited, savory, and succulent, with a pronounced stony/graphite streak. The stems are immediately evident giving the wine some spine and tension and a bit of a green snap. On some sips the tannic muscle is evident, on others it's fully absorbed into the wine and the texture is almost velvety. Thus, while the flavors have that meaty syrah succulence that you could sort of describe as rustic (more beefy than bacon here), the texture here is actually quite refined and civilized. No funk going on here either. It seems pretty close to straight soil-to-glass transfer Cote-Rotie. — 9 years ago
Watchin’ the Celts and drinking a decidedly old school Zin. Only 13.2%, the grapes originate from rocky mountain terroir. Classic Zin nose of brambly, inky blackberry, and cracked rock minerality. In the mouth is where it diverges from most current-day fruit bomb Zins. It’s relatively lean, with noticeable dynamic structure and great acids. The fruit is there, but it doesn’t smother other aspects of the wine. Retro in the best way. This would absolutely strut with tagliatelle in bolognese or papardelle with duck sauce. — 5 years ago
Rustic, earthy, dense and jammy. Nose is completely diff from the retro nasal. Had a great convo about what we experienced with this wine. Some said tomato bisque, some said spaghetti, some said cranberry. Either way it’s a beautiful wine that leaves you wondering what the hell is dancing around us. — 7 years ago
Probably my favorite from The Balvenie, this port wood-finished single malt has a great sherry character along with a sweetness, hint of smoke, and just enough bite (without any warer addition) to allow it to open up on the palate and show off some great retro aromatics. Long, lingering finish. Fantastic. — 7 years ago

Serious grip in retro. A very nice partition that might become a grand symphony in 5-7 years #bestofokanagan #canadianwine — 7 years ago

Deep purplish-blue. Love the complexity of the nose on this bottling. Tons of blueberries, baking spices, toasted wood, savory herbs, burnt matches, burnt mulch, sweet smoke and purple floral notes. Heavy tannins (8.5/10) and full bodied. Loads of oak influence on the palate as well with toasted wood, cinnamon and vanilla. A little savory too as it aired out with some dark cherries and black fruits. Super long finish. Absolutely a killer bottle for under $50.00 with tons of aging potential. If you want to drink this now, decant for 6+ hours. Drink from 2018 till 2036. — 8 years ago

Awesome but massive wine. Very tight and young but as it opens up its great! I would decant for multiple hours, I only did one, or hold for another 5yrs. Deep dark fruit with Bordeaux elements. Refined with great texture. Very impressed!! — 5 years ago
