Jericho Canyon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2002

2002 vintage in January 2021. This is in a great place. Fully mature with big red fruit and balancing earth. Fruit is fully mature and developed some additional characteristics but still very hedonistic for a wine this age. At a peak/plateau with stuffing to keep going but why wait? Do it! — 3 years ago

Pedregal Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Ramey sure knows how to make a Napa Cab from one of my favorite regions in the valley. Rich fruit and firm tannins which does not overwhelm the palette allowing perfect food and wine pairing. Thank you Armen for sharing! — 4 years ago

Ramey Wine Cellars

Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

I wanted to like this, more than I did…. Despite ample breathing time, and great expectations from producer, region, grape; it fell short. The fruit sneaked a peak after about an hr… tannins are soft, medium bodied, and medium alcohol, feels soft on the palate and over spiced for a Napa Cab. Nonetheless, wine is wine, and enjoying it while grandfather tell his grandson a story is priceless — 9 months ago

This was pretty kick butt. It definitely could use a bit more age to fully round out. — 4 years ago

Larkmead Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Excellent. Soft tannins, still has some fruit but also has earthy notes. We had a bottle a few years after release and it was very tannic. Time has been very good for this. — 6 years ago

Wallis Family Estate

Little Sister Proprietary Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2013

Started by Edward Wallis in 1975, (just out of college) on estate dating back to early 1900’s, called Château Pacheteau. Way later in 1988, he replanted 13 acres of vines and started selling fruit to Ramey and in 2006 started his label. Got a taste via Corvin. Blend of 57% Petite Verdot, 29% Cab Franc & 14% Cab Sauvignon, aged for 20 mos. in French (80% new). Earthy and fruit aromas, dark berry and currant flavors with espresso and leather notes. Big firm tannins, ending with earthy oak character. Needs Time! — 6 years ago

Rudd

Oakville Estate Red Blend 2000

Tonight's selection with Prime Rib a 2000 Mag of Rudd Estate Proprtry. Red. Initial impression Bordeaux with black red fruit with Tobacco & a hint of first floor / earthiness. On the palate you black fruit, cassis dark chocolate, cedar, earth, with a touch of vanilla, the finish lingers giving you a macerated plum, earth, red fruit with hints of cedar & mocha. David Ramey was the wine maker I believe — 7 years ago
