Started by Edward Wallis in 1975, (just out of college) on estate dating back to early 1900’s, called Château Pacheteau. Way later in 1988, he replanted 13 acres of vines and started selling fruit to Ramey and in 2006 started his label. Got a taste via Corvin. Blend of 57% Petite Verdot, 29% Cab Franc & 14% Cab Sauvignon, aged for 20 mos. in French (80% new). Earthy and fruit aromas, dark berry and currant flavors with espresso and leather notes. Big firm tannins, ending with earthy oak character. Needs Time! — 8 years ago

Fruit exclusively from the Martinelli Charles Ranch, two miles in from the Pacific, aged for 12 months in 25% new oak. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone fruits and blossom and spice. On the palate flavors of apple and pear with a touch of zesty lemon, crisp, with nitty vanilla notes. Nice mouthfeel, long finish, vivid acidity. — 6 months ago

2002 vintage in January 2021. This is in a great place. Fully mature with big red fruit and balancing earth. Fruit is fully mature and developed some additional characteristics but still very hedonistic for a wine this age. At a peak/plateau with stuffing to keep going but why wait? Do it! — 5 years ago
